SEO experts? Can you please look and tell me what's wrong with my site?

My site Welcome to the world of Oat Bran - Oat Bran

  1. was getting about 1000-1200 visitors everyday and was main source of my income. But since panda update the traffic had gone down
  2. Now after penguin update, the traffic is almost nil from google. It is still ranking well in other search engines. which gets 50-60 visitors a day.
  3. I have done complete re-design of the website. Although i have not continued building links from other sites yet. But i am not sure how i should be building.
  4. I emailed google to know if my site was badly hit by mistake and got a response saying that there's nothing wrong in terms of backlink profile etc.

    I notice that competition for keywords that i target is not THAT much. For example "oat bran" and "oat bran benefits"


What would you do if you had a site like this? Continue building more backlinks? If yes then how? Can you give me some specific guideline on how i should go about it?



Right now don't have much money to invest in pro SEO services.

    Panda was mainly targeted at sites that copied large amounts of content from other sites or in general did not have unique content. Have you been involved in any of that behavior? If not, it is unlikely you were affected by this update. What other things have you been doing to the site directly or indirectly around the time just before the traffic decline?

      I don't think i had any duplicate content on my site. But yes, initially the site's content was not very good. As i had just made the site as a test and not worked hard on the content.

      But later on i re-wrote all the content and re-designed the site. And i was still getting traffic.

      Initially i had built backlinks using:
      • Blog commenting
      • directory submission
      • hubpages backlinking
      • forums backlinking
      I had linked to this site on my other site Treatment Guru - natural alternative treament and home remedies - Treatment Guru (in the sidebar of all pages)



      But now i have removed it from side bar because it was getting too many links from the same site which could have been counted as spammy.



      Now i have again re-designed the site. And now planning to build backlinks again. But i am not sure if that would be the right thing.


      PS:
      Most of anchor text on the backlinks profile is same. Does that create a problem?

    You have most likely messed up some where here....
    • Blog commenting
    • directory submission
    • hubpages backlinking
    • forums backlinking
    The updates you talk about where months ago so your site hasn`t had any traffic for almost 6 months right ? Seriously just start again you will never ever get this site back to the old traffic levels and the more time you spend on forums and emailing google could be used to build a new site and you already have a good grasp of the niche .. the time will past anyway just build a new site mate !

    Here is my advice:

    Ditch this site and forget about it. Why? Because you're going to waste an insane amount of time trying to revive it (and get nowhere) when you can just register a new domain and accomplish it much faster starting from scratch.

    However I wouldn't even recommend that. I highly doubt that this is a niche that interests you at all, and I doubt even further that there is any money to be made with a site about Oat Bran. Take the lessons that you've learned and start fresh in a more profitable niche, dedicate your time to something that will ultimately generate you a significant and lasting return.

    If you don't have a lot of money to invest now, get a job and hoard cash until you do.

    The reason your site tanked has nothing to do with "bad content" and everything to do with the spammy backlinks that you built and strong anchor text you admittedly used.

    Good luck with your next venture - I would ditch this one asap.

    Ok man... I checked your link profile and saw what's the problem.

    You got almost all links with the same anchor text or near anchor text. This is what Penguin filter is about.

    What you need to do now is soften your anchor text profile with 1:9 ratio.

    10% of your keyword and 90% of non-keyword anchor like:

    click here
    link
    here
    more info
    URLs itself
    LSI keywords
    synonyms
    Justin Bieber


    Do this for one month straight.

    You can use Web 2.0, Wikis, PDFs, YouTube stuff, profile links (all kinds of them) for this.

    Make a week plan:

    Monday: 10 Web 2.0s
    Tuesday: 5 Wikis
    Wednesday: 5 PDFs
    etc.


    Now, remember these links are not suppose to boots your rankings but to lower your main anchor text ratio.

      Diluting your anchor text with more spammy backlinks won't accomplish a thing, this site is dead and it's a waste of time to try and fix it. Buy a new domain and start fresh, you will get your rankings back 10x faster than trying to "fix" this thing.

        Sure that's another option. Quicker one too.

        BUT...

        The tactic I mentioned is not a waste of time mainly because those link types are NOT considered spammy.

        I'm not building ton of them too.

        I've recovered several client's sites using this tactic + some other fancy stuff.

          well i am gonna try the first method of changing the backlink ratio..
          and if that does not work i always have the option to move on to next projects.

          Yes, the niche is not that profitable, but i just wanted to know WHY something happened.

            Dont do it sir just start again ! In 4 years i have never spoke to anyone thats got their rankings back .... but i have heard storys so maybe its possible but time is money at the end of the day..

              worth being online?

              Holy crapola.

              I don't believe in the big bad penguin, but if the penguin
              exists, then that site is ripe to get flung out to sea.

              But it's probably not penguin or any other such rot.

              It's just normal gleaning of sites that do not belong on
              the internet.
