Testing The Keyword With Adwords PPC?

I've always trusted the free google keyword tool, and thought their data is fairly accurate... all until recently.

Since I've never done any PPC campaigns in my life, I figured I'd ask you guys if you ever test your "SEO keywords" (the one you're aiming to rank for) with a PPC campaign to see the actual traffic going on for this keyword?

Is this a good practice? Also, I understand more people click on organic than paid results. But could this serve as an estimate? Or is this a completely inaccurate way of determining whether there's really traffic or the data is flawed?

    It can be a good method IF you know exactly what you're doing. There's a certain strategy to this to ensure you get accurate results and don't end up spending a ton of money (especially on high CPC keywords).

    Since you've never done PPC campaigns before, I suggest you do a bit of research first and start with lower CPC kewords.

    • This. It's really easy to lose a lot of money with PPC, even if you're just testing keywords and trying to find their true search count. Be sure to set daily limits at the very least.
