Hi guys,

Dont want to make a dick of myself but there`s some stuff coming though on the SEO sites i get RSS feeds from that Googles penquin 2.0 update is in effect right now... ??

    See a lot of my local sites are gaining traffic over the last two days by more than 10% to 20% increase, but have some amazon sites (about 20 of them) that were ranking for mid level keywords and now are taking a hit,almost 70% of the traffic gone...

    These amazon sites have been ranked by scrapebox/Xrumer/Wiki/article blasts only, are two years old and had 10 original reviews of 750 words, and original review videos, but i still find it to soon to call it just yet

      All of our local city and Province based customers' sites have bumped up in ranking and traffic last two days as well.

      EMD sites seem to be doing well locally too.

      Local sites still going strong, see locally a lot of crappy directories still there, on the major keywords like plumber + city i see our local phonebook site has 2 to 4 listings on the first page.

      Amazon sites have taken a real hit, even for the long tail keywords it ranks third page at best... see what happens over the next view days.

      Still i am very happy if this is what it is, but we know Google, it always has a little surprise in store...

        Just checking all the sites that dropped a few 100 positions and it turns out that each of them already has 1000's of back links (obvious not natural back links).

        So it seems Google is doing a fine job here.

        To my great relief high PR blog posts are still working as they always do and poor written content also still ranks well as I just look at my Amazon sites where I went quite aggresively with the private network links and that site didn't move an inch. Not up, not down so that pleases me pretty much as I can now go on full power with Amazon sites.

        My own seoservicegroup website went from #145 to #71 for the keyword: seo service, reason I mention my own sites is cause I know the history of those better. That site received 7 links from 7 high relevant domains that I created recently. (plus more links from the past but those were mostly crappy), 1 site is no data of course but it might be that Google value's links from relevant sites even more then ever. Or it just cleaned up 145-71 = 73 overly SEO spammed websites

              Yes that is true Nik0, But If we put more hard work and make the private networks / Web 2.0 blogs for real human and give good content to those readers, and start to promote those sites as real money sites, with some tricky I guess we will not be in trouble.

              Anyhow, this is time for us to analysis backlinks of first page guys or the sites rank which are improved and study & find out the truth... :p

                Would definitely work, just requires more money, as in more expensive links. Not sure if the average forum visitor is prepared to pay for that.

                Another way is monetizing those sites but then you have to be careful again with what you monetize it to avoid footprints. Just using Adsense and Amazon would be a poor choice. Perhaps time to start diving into Commision Junction and ughhh Clickbank.

        Amazon sites are tanked... i have one site that got back in the rankings, the rest is all down the shitter, lost 90% of all amazon traffic.

        Local sites with lot of web 2.0 links on them are still going strong, the rankings still stick and the 15/20 traffic increase seem to stick to... although i know it is still yo early to call it, i think i am going to have good fortune with my this Google update..

        Ohw yeah on strange thing happened, some of my EMD's (six of them to be precise) that i lost in the last Panda update have returned to their old rankings again. these sites were promoted with heavily spammed tiers... see how long they will keep their positions , I believe Google is still altering P2, i don't expect the emd's to stick.

    I've checked over 200 keywords across 6 domains, which includes ones less than 12 months old and some over 10 years old, and I'm not seeing any upswing like others are reporting.

    Actually, I'm not seeing any unusual SERP movement at all here - just the usual fluctuations.

    I had a site so penalized (think daily article drips ) it was completely de-listed for months for my main keyword, and around page 40 for my less competitive secondary.

    Since it was delisted I pointed the daily article drips at it for almost a year, with nothing but generic keywords. I figure what the hell. I'll drown it out, or drown, I have nothing to lose (the year was already paid for).

    Well last month my delisted keyword appeared again, page 40. My page 40 secondary went back up to page 20 or so. Not progress I know. Crap is crap.

    But two days ago my delisted keyword jumped page 40 to page 10.

    Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, should be proud of page 10. And I'm not. I'm hopeful. Perhaps the previous penalty was lifted? I don't know. But if it settles down and stays steady I might decide to refocus on it (I built another site, now over 100 pages, doing well in SERPS).

    Two beats one. Fingers crossed!!!

      Yes this is great for me, they have cleared out trip advisor my site jumped 6 pages yesterday thought it was a glitch but its still sat same position today.

    I had sites and clients sites that did well (so far) glad I went away from certain software programs...We did well with web 2.0 links but not the senuke type automated ones and we boosted the PA of some of them to 50..the sites that had those links did well..

    So from what i've been reading just ensure that your links aren't coming from any spammy areas, avoid link farms, avoid tiered link building on web 2.0, avoid over optimization of anchor text keywords, now my question is should we avoid anchor text links in general? Should we be utilizing branded keywords instead?

    Also for guesting posting content, in the link back would it still be okay to use a relevant anchor text link in the author byline?

      yes try to avoid spammy areas what worked for me is focus on links from PR sites with low link counts...we build 3 layers of links on web 2.0's those properties now have up to 50 PA and did very well...my links were a mix of anchors...general anchors (click here)...raw url.....if anyone cares they can skype me amoore9900 I will tell you what my anchor %'s were...

      I don't think, If you use web 2.0 in the way which should be used without spamming and if you make it useful, still ball is on your side.....

      Here I had noticed many people agreed with my comment....

      In my case, I had slightly dropped like from 1 to top5,top8 etc.. I know this is because, I did not vary my anchor text as much possible, but for the keywords which I vary anchor text, still of course, I am # 1

    Yeah a lot of people are reporting crazy changes in serps, me included.

    Interesting thing is, it seems like spammy sites are ranking pretty high, well at least from what I see.

    All very interesting and exciting. All those Fiverr links I bought with the anchor text hairy gay bear ballet classes have given Matt Cutts' blog a real boost.

    What I have noticed is the reappearance of videos in the top search results.

      yep I know people who are using them and the sites did well..I keep waiting for Matt to blast them but if he doesn't soon I'm going to churn and burn some sites..

      I agree. Same here. All my SAPE based projects have kept their current positions or have increased them. Everything is running as planned for now.

    My first observations are this:

    - Links from seo tools have been devalued. I think they have targeted SEnuke and other similar tools.
    - Links from social bookmarks, wikis and article directories are devalued.
    - Good web 2.0 links retain their value.
    - Good relevant paid links retain their value.
    - I also think there is some form of content analysis that devalues links. Although i am not sure yet.

    By proxy this obviously increases the value of other metrics. Nothing is surprising with this update at all, and it just echoes the general direction Google is heading and the objectives they are trying to achieve.

    I will write a full report on this when the dust settles.

    FYI i have been monitoring my niche like a hawk. So i am seeing which sites rise and which sites fall. In the next 24-48 hours i will have a report and tell you exactly what has been effected.

    damn! one of my larger site suddenly vanished from page 1 to the bottom of page 2, not happy, but will jump back to page 1 in the next few days, so screw you Google :p. This is one huge earthquake that Google has caused... hahaha. 8.8 Earthquake!

    As it is now confirmed Google has rolled out penguin with 2.3% of English-US queries are affected.

    What does it mean "2.3% of English-US queries are affected" I am confused about this.

    Can anyone please clear properly? what does it mean?

      It means 97.70% of regular searchers won't notice any differance in the search results.

      About 2.3% of English-US queries are affected to the degree that a regular user might notice.
      In other words, unless your an SEO watching the SERPs, you'll never now/care anything changed in the SERPs.

      None of my main ranked pages budged in the SERPs, so it's all good for me (no changes).

    Seeing changes again in Google traffic today - uptick of 10% at least - my guess is that post Penguin 2.0 Google is clearing away more spam sites.

    I also have sites that were affected of that google update some important keywords dropped. But not that bad EMD sites still are at good positions.
