Guys,

I think my site automammoth.com it pretty well optimized for SEO relating to exact part numbers. I hardly have any backlinks to my direct pages, and certainly no spam ones considering they have none at all. Did this update effect onsite? Or was it just offsite spam links and giving certain high authority sites more value? I have every sensor of a certain kind availab, so how does a 1 page ebay auction beat me out? Ugh...

You still have 2,800 pages indexed in Google SERPs.

You say you hardly have any backlinks, like that's benefiting your sites. Maybe the fact that you hardly have any backlinks is the reason your page isn't ranked?

I don't think you understand- I was ranking number 1-2 for all my part number terms. For instance my page AFH55M-12 - Nissan Maf Sensor/Mass Air Flow Sensor has been ranked 1 for months. AFH50m-05 has also been ranked 1 for months. Right after penguin 2.0 came out, I dropped to 2nd-5th spot immediately. I also fell from number 1 for nissan maf sensor to number 6 behind amazon and ebay. I'm just a little frustrated to lose my rankings so quickly.

You have a backlink posing as a linkedin link on this SEO company's index page. Kansas City Web Design & Kansas City SEO | WYSIWYG Marketing

And another hidden link here: Gas Orifices | Gauging kit | Burner Tips | anderson & forresterâ„¢ (SEO'd by the company above.) I'm not gonna dig any deeper but If I were you I'd start worrying about what other spammy techniques have been employed to so obviously try to manipulate PR.

With surreptitious links like this, I wouldn't be surprised if you were reported by a competitor, or links attributed to this SEO firm have been devalued?

Hmm, I'll look into this. Thanks for the heads up. I hear footer links are bad these days. How strict are they on things like this?

Footer links have been a horrendous idea since 2009 or so. Dump those first and foremost. The hidden links are REALLY BAD too.

Just playing the devil's advocate, but couldn't somebody do negative SEO using that technique. It would be very easy to sink someone doing this... Seems foolish for G to consider this when ranking...

Hey Rathor! Get rid of the link in your sig - that will just hurt your site. Way off topic, and Google likely lumps the Warrior Forum in with Black Hat Sites. You know......

I'll remove my link right away. I just saw other people doing it, so I figured it was a good idea. I guess most of them are promoting their relevant products though.

      It's OK in moderation.

But as you said: it only works if you have links from relevant sites.

That should be your SEO focus moving forward: building links from high quality sites closely related to yours.

I am at a loss of how to find high quality sites (I have seo tool bar, so I know page rank) But how do I find a stupid company to link to weird product of mine such as AFH50M-05 - GM Maf Sensor/Mass Air Flow Sensor ?

Car parts are boring...I just don't know how to find good sites, and then how to get the links accepted. Would joining a car forum help me? And then post links to people looking for my parts?

        Thanks,

          Thanks,
To do that, you need to make it interesting and/or insanely useful for people.

Just look at what Wistia's doing right now: Video Hosting for Business. They have a product about something so boring it's not even funny: video hosting and streaming solutions.

But they've worked hard to make it fun and linkable.

There are hundreds of amazing car-related site owners out there that would be happy to link to a cool infographic or video series about your product.

But you need to a) make that resource and b) reach out to them the right way.

There's only a bazillion automotive pages on the net. You don't have to have links on external GM Maf Sensor web pages, your external links can be on any web page related to any of the individual keywords your targeting, example backlink pages with text that mention these keywords:
          • subaru
          • shop
          • sensor
          • Hitachi
          • Cardone
          • AC Delco
          • GM
          • LeSabre
          • Park Avenue
          • Park Avenue Ultra
          • Buick
          • Riviera
          • Camaro
          • Impala
          • Lumina
          • Monte Carlo
          • Intrigue
          • Bonneville
          • etc...

My point is, the two pages (backlink page + your web page) need to be connected by relevant plain text. Having a backlink on a web page where the entire domain is based on a relevant niche (ex: car repair, car enthusiast sites, etc...) is a lot better than random domains that have a single web page with text that's relevant to your niche site.

Thats the for the advice Yukon- Do you know how I can get my articled added or how I can a link added on these sites? I mean most of them don't allow free posting, and I hear blog comments are useless now. I have a lot of good content, I just need to get it on the net with a link to my site from a good auto domain. Is there a tool to help with this?

            Thanks!
