How to check and analyze backlinks?

Hi,

I'm trying to check and analyze some the backlinks of a website.

I'm using SEO spyglass and Majestic SEO.

But how come for some sites for example, Majestic tells me that a site has 100 links but SEO spyglass says it only has 5 backlinks?

What is the most accurate way to analyze backlinks for a site? What tools should you use?

    Each tool/service tends to crawl different parts of the internet and none of them are complete. It is also a safe bet that Google knows of many more links than any of these tools. I find it helpful to use Majestic, Open Site Explorer (SEO Moz), and ahrefs to try to get a fuller picture.

    I think that most of back link analysis tools are free, so the results are not absolutly accurate. For the best result you should use the tools with payment

    if you are looking for free tool then Google webmaster tool is the best tool for knowing backlinks on your sites & in paid tools i would like to prefer SeoMoz. it is the best tool for getting backlinks details & errors on your sites.different tools will give you different backlinks count because each tool have their own robots & algorithms to detect backlinks.

    Usually i like to use Majestic Seo tool and Open Site Explorer, but in case of OSE it can be used only 3 times in a day, but the results are quite accurate.

    The best free solutions are Google Webmaster tools, OpenSiteExplorer or ahrefs. If you are looking for a free software for backlinking analyzing, go with Tradfic Travis or Market Samurai.
