Wow Google is ranking a sales page with basically no content on the first page for make money online last time I checked it was the 3rd or 4 th position as well as some other highly competitive terms.

I guess quality content is out the window with this Penguin update might as well go back to EMD domain names they seem to be doing great.

Makemoneyinternett.com is the site I am talking about.

P.s I am doing fine after the update with my rankings but seeing sites like that on the first page makes me laugh.

That websites been ranking for that term for several months now. Quality content has nothing to do with ranking. Plus, when has penguin had anything to do with content? No wonder people get smashed in these updates - they don't even understand what these updates are actually targeting.

I guess maybe that is why you don't understand, it's more than 103. Did you see the other variations down the list? There are other factors that is not shown including pagerank for those links. I'm just the messenger, if you want to find out more research it.

am sure that must be a private network where he is getting the links from, I have noticed similar sites ranking top in Google for very competitive keywords but you can't see all the links pointing to the site. Could it be SAPE links?

im not sure you see my point. I do understand SEO and backlinks and anchor text variation. The point I am making is that this backlink profile is nothing compared to others that rank for the make money niche. It must truly attest to the fact that extreme quality of backlinks, looking natural, will get you your ranking.

I can rank for that term with basically a blank page...all about the backlinks...the 'quality content' is for users...not Google...

Having quality content for SEO is a myth, this ranking proofs it.

I am not saying you should not have quality content, but even P2 it is clear that rankings and quality content have no correlation, and that is because Google can't read, it is an algo not a human.

btw it ranks here #2 using google.com from The Hague Holland

Wow. Google has been focused on nailing speech patterns to improve search. In the future, searches will be semantic so Google MUST scan, download, and parse strings (text) en masse.

For instance. 5 years when you type in "red robin" - Google will know if your an the bird or the restaurant based on tons of other data points.

Quality content indeed doesn't matter much, unique relevant content definitely does help to achieve more stable solid rankings, as in you will need less back links to rank for the same.

You guys are missing one big thing, You and others are discussing this because of the lack of content. That result is bound to be reported because of its lack of content. That is EXACTLY how content relates to ranking. Building a ton load of links even High PR will always get your competitors reporting you if you are linking to garbage. With some half decent content no one would be looking at it so closely.

So yeah keep believing having quality content for SEO is a myth. Even if just in linking building it plays a VERY key role. I refuse to take MFA, one page and crappy site owners as clients. It doesn't matter how I set up my network or link resources. Theres just no way linking to them doesn't scream paid links

WTF Google, what happened to "related backlinks", I guess we can throw this out of the window too?
I'm wondering how he did this ...
NONE of his backlinks are physically visible on the pages that they are coming from UNLESS you look in the source code.

    Example:
    Bed Shops | Beds | Mattresses | South Africa - Part 3

If you look on the page the link doesn't exist, if you look in the source code you can see it.
Can anyone shine some light on this? Is there a network that does this?

There are all kinds of ways to hide links. Simple one is to just put the text and visited link the same color as the background but there are other ways as well. Look the problem with this serp is that anyone going into it KNOWS the result is going to be analyzed by lots of competitors . Its a number one term marketers love (and thats why we are even talking about it). So the guy/gal has no doubt done everything they can to avoid detection from competitors including blocking where possible all the bots that report on backlinks (so that you are not seeing bucket loads of good ones) redirects, hidden links etc etc.

Beware trying to draw conclusions of what works now based on that site because there is a ton load being hidden.

There are several other ways he could be getting those types of links. And none of the methods he could use, could ever be discussed on WarriorForum.

Well, guys, still the things are NOT settled I guess... because, about 24 hours when penguin was released, I had noticed one of my client site had gone to 12 from 1 for one keyword, and gone to 8 from 2 for another and other keywords are dropped but all are on top 10. But now, the keyword which was dropped to 12 from 1 is back on 3 and the keyword dropped from 2 to 8 is back to 2.... so it seems still the things are not settled.... and of course, I can see lots of new sites on page 1 and those sites even do not have not good on-page SEO as Google suggests...

Make money online is one of those keywords that is just out there.
It's full of spam, junk, crunk, you name it. I don't believe google
gives a rat's behind about such junk, so you get what you search
      for. Junk.

In fact, when people were going gaga about anchor text, this
is one of the phrases they were actually talking about. This
and other spammed phrases. It was NOT about varying anchor
text. It was using anchor text spam.

People need to stop crying about how google loves other sites
      and not theirs.

Make money online is as super competitive as buy viagra.

I have heard a lot of complaints about the fact that the changes due to Penguin and Panda, and probably other algorithmic changes have negatively affected the search results in Google. So, this is not surprising. Just goes to prove that Google is not God although they may think of themselves as God.

Changes made to Google do not always have the best outcome. I have found many of the results in their search engine boring and sometimes not relevant to what I was looking for.

Im pretty sure it has to do with the fact that Google updates aren't as black/white as we would like to think.

It's not like they just say "hey algorithm do this and BOOM alternate dimension"

When they are making major updates they are changing various element around part by part.

This will make things bounce around but soon we should see the finalized results.

      Then we can complain.
