I had 10 websites that have been in TLA since 2008 that were all wiped out. PR reduced between 3 to 4 points on May 5th - all of them.

Two of these sites also linked back to a 'money term' that was removed on the same date from Google.

If you recall, Matt Cutts said a 'link network' had been worked over on that very date.

The screen capture I show above is what I get when I search. I guess they somehow personalized it for me by removing the Titles? LOL, can anyone explain that one?

I think you are using a plugin like "Adblock Plus", Disable that and press "Ctrl+f5"(Force Refresh).That search result will become normal.

Test-link-ads in banned in the ad blocking scripts not in the Google!

You are logged into personalized search so you are not going to get an accurate normal serp outlook for that term.

However besides that I don't get what the complaint is. You have a site upfront and well known selling links for SEO purposes. Its actually surprising it took this long for them to slap it.

Or are you saying something else?

Okay google is so pissed at Text link ads that they've penalised them in a way they'll still rank in the first page of google but the title tag will be stripped? lol!!

It doesn't matter what happened to their main website. The link sellers got hit (10,000 of them by some estimates). That means buyers dropped. Google hit them where it really counted - in the wallet.

The company already rebranded as MediaWhiz so the impact must have been very severe.

Looks like TLA was a subsidiary of MediaWhiz as far back as 2008 (maybe older).

Scroll to the bottom of the wayback page (1/1/2008).

It doesn't matter. Just listen to him. SEO is dead. Google stopped ranking sites on page one. We should all just join the Purple Headed Mushroom Academy and go social instead.

What do you mean my main account? I have no other accounts here. You have some proof otherwise? I'd love to see it.

And I never, ever said to ignore social. I just disagree with your view to ignore search engine traffic and that Google only leads to a dead end. Most, but not all businesses, should be doing both to a large degree.

Most internet marketers, depending what they are marketing, I think should be doing social stuff more than SEO to be honest.

But then again most internet marketers are trying to cater to the 'make money online' niche (even though they have no clue how to make money online themselves), and wouldn't have a clue how to rank anything in that niche.

Social is VERY VALUABLE and if you can't figure that out, that's fine with me. Sit around 'building links' with the rest of the class be my guest.

I've done extensive testing since 5/25/2013 and I'm very aware of what's ranking sites for 'extremely competitive' phrases. I don't play in the sandbox...I'm in the big leagues.

Keep your head buried in the sand. You're the last of your kind and you'll be extinct soon enough. No skin off my nose

Wow... A whole two months of testing. Compared to people who have been doing SEO for 10+ years and testing all the time... nevermind. I'm not even going to continue with that.

Once again, I never said social was worthless. I just totally disagree with your position that everyone should fear Google's wrath and run from the search engines.

Thing about it is it kind of goes against his entire thesis. TLA has been up public and upfront for years and just got the hammer though being so widely exposed. I guess that algo change that was going to bust all private networks is still in development since they are still using manual actions.

But yeah Social is fine. Its the premise that all else is lost that is in terrible error.

I think View Profile: PerformanceMan is like the Leonardo Da Vinci of WF.

He's got good idea's, but he's way too ahead of the times for them to work. If you get too far ahead of the trend, it's direction might change without you being able to adjust.

The plot thickens. So the OP got his sites slapped silly buying links on one of the most public buying link sites on the net and on the same day he posted the above started his two month experiment. So its not because he came to some epiphany about social or determined how evil it was to buy links or manipulate rankings like he has been telling us for months. It was because his buying links the wrong way habits got him in trouble.

Should of bought domains instead Homey (yes my word for the day) !

Seriously Barry all kidding aside. you can use both social and SEO the same time. This pitting of one against the other is totally unnecessary. Lighten up. When MA of all people is telling you that then you know you are leaning a little too heavy to one side.
