Hey folks,

This is the question i would like to have answered!

Im from the Netherlands and we speak dutch, so this means that most people search on google in dutch keywords.

The search volumes on dutch keywords are obviously way less then English keywords, also the competition is a lot less..

When trying to rank high for a keyword is it wise for me to use a dot.COM or should I use a dot.NL website since dot.NL is the main extension used in the NetherLands.... Wich one would rank higher??

And what about backlinking??? If I have a dutch website with a lot off backlinks to all these websites in the English language... would that have any effect????

I'm very curious about this since the internet marketing and affiliate marketing here in the Netherlands is not developed yet... when I search on a topic in English terms, I wil find like gazillion e-books on a topic.... and when I search in dutch I would have a hard time finding even 2 good e-books.

I believe I can really profit from this situation.... But I don't know where to start ... I feel like all the things I am learning are way ahead to the game here in Holland.. I am learning all these terms and good stuff from people like Russel Brunson, Justin Brooke etc etc while most people here never heard from affiliate marketing before.... the internetmarketing and selling digital products here in the Netherlands is just starting to take off... and we have like No gurus at all

Should I just go for the dutch market???.... or should I try to do affiliate marketing on the English market???????

What would u do in this situation??

I hope u folks have some good tips for me
thnx

ps.. (sorry for my bad spelling)

I will use both but use different content or the other one is just a rewrite so I will have two entries in the search engines. I will focus much on the .COM but still have the .NL. Make the .COM the authority of your .NLs.

Google "page translation code" and get the code to have your pages translated into different languages. Then you can target whatever major language's keywords you want and your visitors will have a ready option to read it in their native tongue once they get to your site.

Generally speaking, the ccTLD (in this case, .nl) will rank higher than .com's assuming they go to google.nl. As for the backlinks, it doesn't matter where they are from and what language the text on the page is.

Opt for dot "nl domain" . Reg., backlinks, quality thematic links from related geographic area will add extra points for ranking.

    Hello Nino,

I am originally from Romania and but now I live in Leuven, Belgium, great to see that there are some other people from the same area.

    As to your question:

"Should I just go for the dutch market???.... or should I try to do affiliate marketing on the English market???????"

It also depends what product you are affiliate for. If you are going to pre-sell some fancy Internet Marketing Course that is given in English it may be useful to use the content on the pre-sell page in English. You may not want Dutch speaking people to read your NL pre-sell without knowing that they need to understand English if they buy the course.

There are affiliate products which may appear to any market easily without the language problem.

As far as the domain and webpage language it again depends on your choice based on the proven demand.

Before setting up the domain, page sites do some keyword research (using some tool) who give you info for the searches done in Dutch language. If you notice significant demand and justifies the reason than will be better off setting up a .nl, .be domain name and have all its content in dutch.

That is not me or anybody on this site who can tell you what is best, ONLY the results from keyword research tools!

It may be worth to also check what competition you have for the Dutch market. As the possible customer base is smaller then going for English/Spanish folks you may not want to get suffocate in a market niche where some other of your Dutch/Belgian friends are quietly already in.

    Good luck,

    Valentin
