Im thinking of buying a domain for 1300 dollars. Reason. It has high domain authority and links from several gov domains within my niche. I then want to link pages from that domain to my money site in order to raise trust/authority.

Good or bad Idea?

Actually this is the best way to rank your site as today. However if you have only 1 domain to rank I would think about the whole investment a bit more. 1300 bucks for a single link isn't a great investment if you aren't going to make any other use with it.

$1300 just to get the backlinks? Seems like an extraordinary investment considering the upside. I'd hope to invest that much on a website I'd turn a profit on within 6 months. So, if you can turn a profit from whatever revenue model is in place AND get some link juice, cool. Just banklinks? Hmmm, not so sure.

    Nice Monty.
But that's a whole lot of Dolla for a domain. Better be damn sure everythings legit. You would easily pick yourself up a nice 10 site mini private network for that kind of Dolla.. Good luck

Thanks for your suggestions and comments. Since the niche is geographical .gov links seems very hard to get and PR domains for sale are very rare. This one is unboubtly the best one I have seen in 6 months. But still - its not my main site - but I I could gain some "ranking points" by getting unique links from this high PR domain with high trust and authority it could be useul.

You're on the right track, but unless that thing has hundreds of .edus and .govs it's probably over priced.

Spend some time playing around with ExpiredDomains.net and RegisterCompass.com to get a feel for the market before pulling the trigger.

$1,300 for a domain is over priced and you need more than one.. Spread the amount into 4+ domains and covert them for your back links use. It's actually a good way to rank without leaving any footprint.

Going with domain buying path is a good idea , indeed. But paying $1300 for your first attempt is a bad one though. Get to know the risks and benefits and then scale it up. You should start with $20*5 and learn how to set it up and how you can hold the PR , how its impacting your ranking etc.

Building your own network for backlinking purpose is itself an ART. you need to master it.

Usually, I see in Godaddy Auction, selling domain names with PR and backlinks under $1000, but make your own research first.

Having your set of PR domains is the best way to create high quality backlinks. But $1300 for one domain only for backlink is quite expensive.

1300 dollars is a big investment, just for a single domain, for the purpose of backlinking...

Thing is - you might be able to gain a lot more if you invested that money into something else!

If that domain is considered and authority, then it's the better case, but if it only has authority backlinks, then you get a 2-step linking chain. The strength will be lower than a direct authority link.

That is good way, but $1300 is a real high price. Instead of spending $1300 on a single domain for backlink purpose and boost your SEO, you may spend that 1300 with PPC and gain more profits

Or You may invest that amount of money on content marketing and get nice link juice to your site, like creating blogs on your niche related sites. You may purchase your niche related domain (no matter it is new or old) at low price and start promoting it and then get a link back to your money site from it. It may have similar worth, but as this is the case, you may can have many domains pointing your site rather than one domain.
