Advice for success, take it or leave it.

So a few minutes ago I was watching this video on how to build muscle, and this huge guy says leave those protein shakes alone, eat real food and just lift heavy. He says I keep it simple.


Right after that I came to Warrior Forum and looked at all the threads about keyword software, backlinks, Google updates, article marketing, horrible WSO's etc and I felt just like the bodybuilder guy. You don't need all that. Keep it simple, turn your passion/love for your niche into a money making site.


Think of your visitors first and"you making money last" that is the only way you will see success for the long haul. All you need is your site, good on page SEO, content whether it's written, video or pics and that's it.

If you want traffic build up your brand and get it, market your site, guest blog, blog comment (not for links but for traffic), create a interesting fan page etc. It may take time, but it's better to take a year or two building something that will make you financially stable for the rest of your life than to scheme and plot, and see temporary gains.


You basically have two choices, which one will you choose? quick and easy or will you take the time to do it right and build a real business.

    I agree with you, completely, for people attempting to make money from their own site, and want to promote their own site.

    But a lot of people here doing SEO don't have a site, and don't spend all their time and effort and money working with their own site. We're doing SEO for many other sites. We might have little or no control over the content of client sites. And we won't get paid for it if we wanted to be passionate about a client site and work to make it a better site. Your advice is good to pass on to site owners so they do their realistic part to help benefit their own sites. But the rest of us have to focus on figuring out Google, how to get the best backlinks, what automation works and doesn't, and so forth.

      The problem is most of the people try to get rich in a shortest time but a shortcut path can't be a long lasting way of generating money. The strategy you described here is completely ethical, white-hat but it's a long term plan! BUT I am sure people who believe earning $ from website is an overnight job, won't like your plan

    As someone who participates both in SEO and the iron game I definitely see the similarities you are trying to make.

    However just like how in the iron game protein shakes and supplements do have their place, so does software, backlinks etc. do in the SEO game.

    For some there is no way that they can eat enough protein from "natural foods" to make muscular gains, thus protein shakes are a great way to supplement this. Sure some can eat 6 chicken breasts a day, but many will find a combination of whole food + supplements ideal to hit their daily protein intake.

    Just like in SEO, some will find artificial linkbuilding / promotion helps them to hit their financial goals, while some purists will swear by quality content only. It is more a style issue than anything else.

    However yes you are correct in that at the end of the day it is about creating user value and great content that will be the foundation of long term success.

    Could not agree with you more!!!

    When I look back now (started in 2002) in retrospect, my wife and I wanted to work from home and get rich quick.

    It ended up being A LOT OF WORK from home and get "comfortable" slowly.

    We actually went into debt for 2 years as I bumbled around trying figure out how to get traffic. Then there were lean years when the bills barely got paid. 11 years later I wouldn't call us rich compared to the oil guys who live around here, but we net 15-18 g a month - from home though.

    We succeeded because we learned how to keep it simple. We used have over 100 domains - we stripped it down to eight. We got rid of the extras in life back in the old days so we could hire a good writer, but that made things much easier.

    Learned how to use DragonNaturally so work was so much faster and more fun.

    There is no shortcut to success many people seem to forget that. Too many people think that you can earn $10k a month with little to no investment and with only a few hours work a week.

    ahhh while i dont have any actual disagreement with the message you are trying to communicate... and not even really on topic but...

    I just want to say that the guy giving that fitness advice has no idea as to what he is talking about...

    Not saying protein shakes are good/bad or that eating real food and lifting heavy are right/wrong...

    Simply saying that optimal protein intake, calorie intake, and lifting routines are FAR from simple lol...

    Many people can eat "real food"/lift "heavy" and have disgusting bodies and horrible lifting stats.

    So sorry for steering away from your main point though. Just thought maybe I could add value by pointing this out.

      How many times do I tell people, forget keywords, make
      sites on stuff you love, cherish, worship, and can love it
      to oblivion? How many biggies have done just that? They could
      care less about making a site for best top 10 wi games for idiots,
      or student loans for dummies..NO! They friggin created apple, FB,
      twitter, google, etc. etc.....hey! Even the warrior forum!

      I have 2 sites like that. Sad I only have 2, but the others just ride
      along. I nurture these sites because I love the subject. Take
      your friggin hobby, and become the next guru in that niche.

      You will make money because advertisers will come to you!

      It's not hard. You like fishing? I mean you REALLY like fishing?
      Make a kick butt site about it. Love it. Nurture it.

      You'd be amazed at how I get triple than search CPC on my sites.
      Why? Because people know my sites attract laser targeted
      customers for them. I could care less about creating some
      lame meso site just because...so friggin lame that people
      drink that kool aid.

      SEO? Here's the friggin sad truth about SEO. Everybody and their
      brother knows the basics about SEO. So what? Why does wikipedia
      rank so high? SEO? Of course not! They rank so high because people
      love the crap out of them.

      The big dogs don't care much about SEO.

      Why do you think I am constantly telling you that granny with her
      knitting blog has no chance of being deindexed, penalized, whatever?

      She could give a rat's hat about some google algo update.

      She keeps it simple.

        To bad the masses won't listen, their to concerned with backlinking, spamming,link wheels, what Matt Cutt says, making crappy sites etc.

        They never stop and think for just one minute and realize they can make money and be happy if they stop being selfish n greedy. Most people here talk about visitors as if their not people, there just stats to a lot of marketers n that's a shame.

    Been there, done that.

    I worked in the niche offline for a few years, turned that into a hobby while working offline, turned the hobby into an online sub-niche business.

    My best site is the sub-niche authority, actually kind of happened by accident, I was interested in the sub-niche & started sharing what I was working on with other people interested in the sub-niche on the largest overall niche forum. Literally had niche traffic on my now authority site the first day the site went live.

    Funny thing is I've shown people on this forum how to bank long term sub-niche sites, doubtful most did anything with that info. Really, it's that simple (link above).

    Everything you say (nest) is true but ignorance is big business. How do you think the WF makes its money? It relies on newbies to buy the next "shiny object" on the market.

    The IM niche is big because there's a humungous supply chain that follows it. People that offer keyword research, copywriting, blog network links etc etc. If every marketer attains enlightenment then this is an industry that's wiped out overnight.

    IM reminds me of the 1849 Gold Rush. The guys making serious money were the guys selling the buckets and spades...
