Total Links From Single Domain?

Been wondering about this for awhile. Google's webmaster tools is showing a total of 462 links to my site. 268 of them being from one domain, weddingwire.com. This has to be looking like spammy link to my domain right? Digging though my analytics account I cannot see one visitor from this network.

I thought that this would be a good niche specific site to list my business in but now seeing this I am second guessing weather that was a good idea or not.

What do you think? Is this bad for the seo of my site? This has been showing in my webmaster tools account for weeks now but I have seen a drop since the latest algo update.

Should I been concerned? Should I try to remove my site from this network? If this is bad for my seo is there anything that I can do with google to let them know/reverse and negative effects?

    It can be hard to tell if some sites are spammy or not. In general, just by visiting the pages, if you can see that the site is not of high quality (i.e. poorly written content, lots of ads, no real purpose, etc), then it is probably not good to have so many links coming from them.

    If you have not received any warnings from Google in webmaster tools or a drop in rankings, you are probably fine.

    If you do however want to get the links taken down, you can use the disavow tool but you will need to do a lot of work up front before actually submitting a list of links to Google. You will first have to try and get the website to remove the links for you (and this is the best thing to do anyway). Document this process (i.e. save emails and other correspondence). If they take them down great, if not, submit that data along with your disavow links request to Google.

    • The site seems to be a high quality popular site and from what I can tell it seems to not be being penalized in any way by google. The reason that I am looking into this is because I have seen a recent drop in ranking thinking it is probablly from the recent penguin update. I tried to do some searching and could not find any complaints or warnings against this site.

      I am also thinking that maybe the update could have lowered my rank just due to the nature of the links to my site. A good portion of the links to my site are from directories, yelp, angieslist, etc. I am currently working on getting some new links from the local news websites/other local established websites. I thought that it was looking a little spammy just on the sheer number of links showing but I also don't want to request to have my business removed taking away the links and further dropping my ranking. I am still sticking on page one and getting some traffic but not nearly as before the update being in position 2.

  • If the site is in the same niche then there is no worry... let them be there..
  • The domains seems to be an authority domain, let the links be as it is.
