Marketing for Industrial Clients

Guys,

I have several industrial marketing clients that are looking to beef up their SEO, and search engine rankings. I am unsure how to implement social media since most of their products are so boring. Products like plastic casings or services like electropolishing. Most people don't care and certainly wont share anything related to these topics, so social media is basically out. PPC works on some of them to an extent, but this is not a long term solution for most of them.

Does anyone have any suggestions besides just writing more and more content? How do I get incoming links from people that are worth anything? What do you think about google authorship? Penguin 2.0 really hurt several of my clients and I'm not sure what to do.

Any help would be great!

Thanks

This might be slightly orthodox... but meh...

    Forums, in related niche.

research the LSI terms of the market you're in. Search forums related to those keywords you've found.

    You're targeting B2B?
I highly suggest linkedin instead of facebook in terms of "social media."

Squidoo, hubpages, article directories. You'll be surprised by how people search more for technical terms in these places.

And contents in the mentioned above, will... (not 100% guarantee.. well there's no 100% guarantees in SEO) push forth the SEO in SERPS.
which will in turn bring in traffic and leads.

Step 1: Find exactly who these industrial clients want to target.

Step 2: Generate a list of potential clients using a scraping software of info USA type service.

Step 3: Use the phone numbers/emails to target these prospects with custom audience Facebook ads.

If this isn't viable, then you need to go back to the drawing board. But the first step is having your client tell you, "Hey, my target market is X." Then you can gather that target market and run ads specifically for them.
