My Site was Hit Again and Now It's Dead

The new algo update did the last blow to my Amazon site. It was relatively affected by Penguin 2.0 and I thought it was just like the first one. I did survived it once and even thrived after a couple of weeks up until this the latest Penguin. But wrong move on my part (and stupid of me) was to file a reconsideration when I saw that 1/3 of my traffic was already gone. I was rather too straight forward on the reconsideration letter saying Google should at least value content vs. backlink profile.( I know that there are many Amazon affiliates sites being hit.) But only after sending the letter that I had the queasy feeling that I can easily be marked and fall from Google's grace. Any person who has a big ego can easily take that letter against me (I think. Though I know now that I shouldn't expect reader of that letter to know I wrote it during a pressing time and somehow in bad mood.)

Now, this new algo update designed for 'query spam' hit me. Of course, I don't think my site deserves it. But it was hit and now is dead. (I can only deduct that my site was included because of my letter.)

I'll now brace for the coming hard difficult months. It's difficult to start all over again but I have to.

Did you scrape Amazon for your sites content?

No. They are all original content.

Yeah never a good idea to directly tell google to overlook your backlink profile. still last update is still young. You might even bounce back in a few days.

yes, I'm still hoping that a reversal of fortune happens. The site still has a handful of traffic (once or two every hour) but what I can't understand as I check it is that the keyword are in #2 and #4 positions. That's the reason why I was thinking the reconsideration letter might be the culprit. Probably my traffic was manually peg at certain numbers.

Now, you should start with fresh site, fresh content, fresh domain name and don't repeat the same mistakes.

There's a couple of startup sites already but it will take sometime to rank -the reason for my frustration. Also the problem is I don't know what are my mistakes. Is it the lack of backlinks (I haven't done anything on it for several months until the past days.) I even posted days ago a couple of new fresh reviews written akin to a magazine article then did a couple of backlinks. Then this happened. Or probably the free wp theme that I used. (the site is pretty simple and looks inferior visually when compared with my competitor's.) I don't know really why it tanked that hard.

Buy a new domain and put the site on there instead of beating your head against the wall.

Some of my Amazon sites seem to be fighting for position. One disappeared, went to #65, went to #8 for a few days then back to #1.. I don't know what these updates are about, but it's like my Amazon sites are fighting for their lives eh..

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

I do feel the same way. But mine's experience is all downhill. I hit rock bottom, couldn't see the light of day for my site.
