Hi,

I heard this very often and I did experience it myself either.

If I want to rank my site in the US and have my hosting company in e.g. Europe don't you think that this will negatively affect the rankings in your target country?

As I told I already made the experience that it is generally more difficult to rank those kind of sites.

What was your experience?

I have experienced this problem almost two times. I was working for a coupons website and their country was outside US but all the coupon codes and the stores of those coupon codes were located in US. So with struggling almost 4 months we decided to shift the server in US and with next two months website's page rank was 2.

Hm, are you talking about the Pagerank or the ranking of your site?

Yes, country based server does indeed affect ranking in desired
country. That is, a German website would certainly want a
German based server. But this is not to say it can't be overcome.

FYI: Europe is not a country.

Google does have different algos throughout the world. You cannot
base entirely German site SEO on what people do in the US.

Americans are just too far gone...in many instances.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

Yes, I know, but thanks anyway.

Hm, interesting. There are really some people who claim that it's not important.

But including me we are now 3 people who say that it makes a difference.
Have you acctually made an experience in this field or did you just heard it?
