When someone does a Google search, Google will give a list of sites ranking from most relevant to least based off the keyword provided in the search. This is basically what your seeing on the results page. So when you add a post that is unrelated to the rest of the posts then Google sees your site as being less relevant. This is especially noticeable on smaller sites.

Anything you do with your site, it affects your ranking, if you added a page and it is not good, due to duplication, bad formation, spun articles, irrelevancy etc. then you may get penalized..
