Is a niche Q&A site a viable idea, i've setup one but i can't get users to sign up.Also, how should i generate content for such a site.I want the content to be quality but i also want the community to contribute by asking and answering questions.

    Personally, a niche faq is excellent idea. However you will require loads of marketing effort. BTW if you are expecting readers to discuss, why not start a forum? That would make your job easier.

      Correct me if i'm wrong but i think the Question Answer approach is more search friendly and direct, discussions should be avoided.Also why do you think the q&a approach will require a lot of marketing effort?

    Yes, it's a good idea, even for an existing same niche site. You could have a single/large category answering niche questions.

    It depends on quality of your Q&A site and your promotional stuffs, you need to be active on your site, if there are some questions then you need to answer, you can also refer to wikihow, Yahoo Answer etc.
