2 domains, same content?

Forgive me if this thread is placed in the wrong category. I couldn't find another one that seemed more fitting.

I have a site which is mybrand.com (not my actual site, but a site and domain that contains my brand name). On that site I have a blog, videos and all the other stuff.
But right now I'm working on a home study course, and would like to have the salesletter on that site as well.

But aside from my main site, I also have a site which is myhomestudycourse.com.
This site will be done in OptimizePress and be a regular salesletter for my course.
This will not be promoted on adwords etc, but only by my autoresponder.

The question is now, can I have the same salesletter on both mybrand.com and myhomestudycourse.com and not having it hurt my rankings on Google?

Because really, I do have duplicate content.

Should I instead install OptimizePress in a subdomain on my main site mybrand.com, and then have myhomestudycourse.com as a pointer towards that subdomain?

But if I do that, then myhomestudycourse.com will not show up in a Google search,
which I want it to do. (If it gets publicity and it gets known, and people search for it, I want them to find myhomestudycourse.com as the top ranker).

  • You can do this without worry, but only one copy of the sales letter will rank well, if at all.

You won't be "penalized" per se, but the duplicated content just won't help you. One copy of it will rank and the other copy won't.
    • [ 1 ] Thanks
  • The way I'm reading,
Cant you just, set the salesletter site to "No-Index"? If like you said you only plan to direct traffic through your list. Well I dont see any reason why you need the site indexed in the first place.
