Mailchimp's whats and hows

I just want to know if what is mailchimp?
I've held a google search but it says that it will send many emails to many recipients. Email providers can send many emails right so why use mailchimp?
lol I really do not know.
Why is it also that Internet Marketers uses mailchimp or say use it to use especially on sending emails?

I use it every week. The thing I like most about it is the stats it gives on open rates, email clients, click-through rates and so on.

mailchimp is an autoresponder, it is most useful if you have your mailing list to update them about your website or promotion.
