Hey I'm doing some heavy calculations here so I need some data.

I was wondering what your average cost per click is in adwords.
And please tell me if it is in a competetive market or not.

I'm going to start a campaign soon but I'm trying to calculate a lot of stuff and I would like to hear your average cost per click.

I just want to get an idea.

No two campaigns are alike. Therefore you wouldn't have an average cost per click for more than one. You could have 5 campaigns in the same niche, and they could all have a different average. Two people could have the same ad for ringtones and one could be paying $.50 a click and the other person could be paying $5.00 a click. There are too many variables, history, quality score etc.

      Yeah I know.

But how low can you make your cost per click in a competetive market, and what is the maximum you will ever pay while profiting.

And yes, it varies, weather your good at finding low cost keyword and clever techniques to getting low cost per click and if you have a good quality score but still, how low can you get your cost per click in a competetive market with a keyword that does get traffic.

Well then I know it can get very low.

      $1/click isn't neccessary right?

I'm running a campaign with $2 per click profitable. But this totally depends on everything. So it is not any useful question to ask, what CPC are you paying?

You simply have to know your Conversion-Rate and the price of the product to calculate the max CPC possible (below break even). Usually if competition is heavy, the ads already run at this level. What is important then is your quality score to get visible without paying too much. You want to have a Great to run a profitable campaign in a competetive market.

Yep. Also depends on your keywords.

I'm in a couple markets where the top guys are paying $3+ per keyword. I'm only paying $0.20 cents, making a good profit using highly targeted keywords with far less competition.

You could get $0.20 cent clicks and lose money. You could get $2 clicks and make money. It all depends on the market. Test test test.

Try breaking the niche up into smaller niches to give you an idea of good long tails to target. I run two campaigns, one that is quite competitive (around 100 people bidding on the same keywords) where I pay $0.3 a click and another which isn't at all competitive (between 5 - 20 bidding on the same keywords) for which I pay $0.15.
