  • It's easy for your Facebook page to rank. But pasting your website link into your Facebook status won't really help your website's SEO... unless many people like it; that way it may help.

  • Since Facebook Pages have high authority, if you name them correctly, they will actually rank quite well on Google, so long as you build backlinks to them. Then just use them to steer traffic to your Money Site.
  • Yes, you should get benefit of authority.. if you create a page with quality information, you would rank higher..
  • i am not sure about the faceboook SEO.. Just use the basic SEO strategics like bookmarking and link build for your face book fan page.. Increase fans and likes to more will get you rank well in Google Search Engine too..

    Thanks

  • You must update content on facebook Page. If your page with quality information then you will get more traffic
  • Facebook is good ONLY for instant traffic (You could reach hundreds of visitors to your website.. but this will NOT help you rank higher in Google for example!). It's a SOCIAL MEDIA site, NOT an article directory for example!

    • who are you kidding? Backlink link juice from Facebook? if facebook links gave any additional boost in the SERP i'd be buying all facebook related giggs on fiverr!! the only reason why people give importance to facebook for link building is becoz if the content you shared is great maybe people who read it would link to you in their blog. i dont see that happening tho. even if people did, the number should be way too low. its so easy to share on facebook than write an entire blog and talk about what someone else wrote.

  • Some here have said Facebook helps SEO; others have said it does not. Some have addressed SEO for a Facebook page; others have discussed using a Facebook page within an SEO campaign for a website. (I'm a little unclear on which you originally intended). I don't know the answers to these question half as well as many who have posted. I just thought you might appreciate my story of how I used Facebook, and what it did. (I have no product to sell).

This all happened last week, and I have solid results from the SERPs for 7 days now after this.

I'm targeting a fairly non-competitive keyword that I identified a year ago, but did not get to start a project for until May. In the mean time, another competitor entered the game, and there was already one other. So, I have 2 competitors in the top 10 for this term.

For about 3 weeks, Competitor 1 had the second position, Competitor 2 had the 5th and I was sitting at sixth. (The other positions were sites like Wikipedia, WebMD, not the sites I am trying to compete with, although they'll take most of the traffic).

I had built a number of backlinks, primarily guest posting. My best backlink came from a PR5 domain (let's leave the PR discussion to the side, for the time being), and Competitor 2 had 1 PR6 link. I couldn't break him easily, without paying for links. (He bought that one).

None of us, however, were using social media. I decided to start a blog, Twitter and Facebook. (Haven't done much with Twitter yet).

I wrote an intro post, and then spent 2 days on my first post. It was (1) something many people in my niche would use and (2) the most authoritative post on the topic yet. It took me 2 days - it was a good post.

I then went to Facebook and found 200 organizations that might like the post, and left a message on each one's timeline. Out of 200, about 15 have liked or commented on it, and I've said "thanks!" I've received about 10 likes to my Facebook page from this.

That's about all I've done on Facebook, it took me 2 days to write the post and 1 to promote it. In the past seven days, the SERPs have been: Competitor 1 at position 2 (same), I'm at position 4 (+2), and Competitor 2 at position 7.

Hope that helps you some. Good luck!

There's a huge market in Facebook and you should take advantage of this social networking site to get your business exposed. Getting a lot of 'likes' and collecting a fan bases are great ways to start marketing your brand. You'll have a bigger chance to rank higher in search engines if you are able to come up with a fan page of quality content.
  • Anyone have tried to rank facebook pages on Google?Any other tips here?It is a good strategy, I think.
  • It is useful, but to be honest more for brand exposure than anything else.
  • Today Facebook is best way to increase traffic for website, so create page for business and increase like and submit interesting posts for attract peoples.
  • Facebook fan page can bring traffic to your site. Now-a-days, Google have focused on social media interaction. So be active on your business's facebook fan page..

    • Yes you can SEo facebook. Make sure "About me" and organizations have seo keywords. Cleverly put keywords throughout the text. Also, adding custom tabs increase page rank.

Facebook is great for SEO. But don't waste too much time on the actual best practices. In a highly competitive industry where your competing against corporations, (eg. Auto Insurance), good page SEO won't do much.

If your in a highly competitive industry exert more effort into a good facebook page that people would like to share posts from. That's where the real domain ranking can come from.
