New Site Ranking Drop, should I be concerned?

My site is a month or so old. Maybe 1 and a half. I was logged in to my google account and pulled my site up at #3 on page 1 for my key words. Long Tail Pro had me ranked @ 70 which I'm told will happen if you are logged into Google ( search is customized). Two days later I'm not even ranked. I've only got maybe 8 links via forums or Facebook.

Just curious if I should be concerned? I sent a reconsideration request to google to be safe, but in doing more research it looks like this could be common?

My site is The Best 22 Rifle | Find the Best 22 Rifle for you!.

Thanks!

Many new sites get a bump in rankings temporarily. Google likes to present new content to users. After a few weeks or so, the site will settle down to where it deserves to be ranked.

That is mostly likely all that happened. You are now ranking where you should be ranking.

Ok I guess I'm just confused. The sites that are ranked above me have been around for 3 months, and none of them have anywhere near the content I do. I had questioned duplicate content as a cause since I have 5 one paragraph excerpts on my main page that are also in my individual posts. Not sure if that would be enough to drive it down or not?

New sites are quite unsteady in the SERPS. I would say wait at least 6 months to see more stable rankings (unless it's a weak SERP)

Are you talking about a specific page that is jumping around or your root domain? If it's your root domain I've always had mine jump around but my pages are usually more consistent.

To me I think the site just doesn't have enough links and google does not trust it yet.

It's most likely the temporary bump that MikeFriedman posted about. There was no reason to send a reconsideration request.

Hopefully they just delete it. I deleted it from my webmaster tools messages, not sure if that makes a difference or not. I added a bunch of content tonight, went back and resubmitted the entire site to Google, so hopefully that helps it pop back up.

The site's still indexed so I'm not worried there, just probably need to give it some time and start working on getting folks out there to take a look at it. Appreciate all the advice - I'm impatient, and that's one thing that's been hard for me as I dive into this business!
