How much would you pay for this expired domain?

thelittlestblog.com

It's PR4 and appears to have solid backlinks. I was going to use it to start a personal blog but now the price is out of my reach. ($900+)

Looks like its 10x times over valued to me. Its brandable. But not $900 worth of brandable.

10x over valued!?!?!? When is a PR4 domain with a good backlink profile only worth $90!?!? I was going to pay $500 myself. lol

Here's the link to Majestic btw:

In time you will learn. There is a lot more to a good domain than just backlinks.

Heres one of my network domains

Its got 50x times more referring domains and 5x times more links.
By your standard of domain judgement. This should be worth $200k?
I will take $100k from you and We call it even?

p.s this one cost me nothing $0

Condescending comment aside, when has a brandable PR4 domain with a good backlink profile sold for $90? Anyone else have an opinion on the question above?

            Mick,
You asked the question. How much would you pay for this domain?
I told you, $90. Based on looking at its link profile and a few other factors that come into play.
To me, that link profile is very weak to say the least.

            250 Referring domains.
            50k backlinks.

That's poor. That's really poor. The referring domains are giving an average of 200 links each to the site. How many links can you get from the same domain before it becomes a mute point? Not many.

So here's my opinion. The domain is not worth more than $90. I believe you have saved yourself $500 by not buying it. You asked for opinions man. Then you flame the answer. Go figure.

What it sells for and what it's worth are two entirely different things. Especially at godaddy auctions.

I didn't flame any answer. I asked two short questions. One of your replies included that I was "going to learn" something, which was condescending. We'll see if others feel that a PR4, brandable domain with a good backlink profile is worth $90.

Not a great lover of the domain name so branding to me would not be my issue. Its hard to say without checking the backlinks but generally $200-$400 on a PR4. Without checking the backlinks (and the data might be off anyway since its been awhile since there was a PR update) the price seems steep

maybe another example why I say people doing most or even all of their domain buying on Godaddy are dramatically over paying for their domains.

I've been looking for high PR domains for about a week and I definitely agree that people over pay on Godaddy. I've had better luck with PR2 and PR3 domains on Godaddy. Tonight I'm looking for other sources for high PR domains.

if you are serious about buying domains then kick powershot to the curb (if you are using it ) and get a register compass subscription. Godaddy is setup to create a frenzy of bids in the last day. Register compass will give you data for all the three top domain auction sites

It's currently at $909... There is no way I would ever pay that much for this domain. I've been looking at it's backlink profile for the past ten minutes and I would bid in the $150-200 max.

Nope, just the domain. I was willing to pay a premium to to prop up a new personal blog, plus use the site in a private blog network.

oh wow that blog of theirs isnt monetized and it looks like if you threw some adsense on there targeting new moms (the content of the site is heavily family oriented) you could make bank. too bad.

if you are going to build on a domain like that from the ground up I would keep it the same niche wise (mom and kid oriented) and add content FAST so that you could keep the serps position.

overall that blog looks like the real deal. some family that got all "artsy" with raising their kids and it caught on lol. good find!

Yeah, I think they caught on due to the Linkwithin plugin connecting them to similar sites. The domain has a bunch of PR4 links from other family oriented blogs.

At $500, I knew I would be over paying but I felt like I would make the money back quickly. Oh well.

My personal ranges are as follows

      PR3 - under $50
      PR4 - under $100
      PR5 - under $250
      PR6 - under $500

Ofcourse if the domain name is special, then the valuation can skyrocket. But for most domains the above range has worked out well. I think 900 is way too high for thelittlestblog.com

You take PR that much into consideration? I check backlinks out before I even consider the PR.

If the domain has Good Alexa, good no. of backlinks then the current bidding price is not bad..

I see 8 hour time left, it would get more I think.

well again if you couldnt get the blog with it you wouldnt be getting the real deal. If I compare my blog's alexa rank and the traffic it gets with that blog I estimate its getting anywhere from 1K-2K UV hits a day. Just putting up adsense alone would make you that 900+ back easily hahah.

I love all the "civilians" out there creating personal blogs that blow up and don't know the value of what they have hahaha....

IN this much amount, 900$, you can better buy a 10$ domain and hire a virtual assistant to get started working on it. I think this can be best alternative..

How long would it take and how much would it cost to have a VA develop a PR4 domain site with solid PR4 backlinks pointing to it?

A subject for another thread, I'd like to see how ppl are leveraging VAs. I tried outsourcing some tech blog writing but I had to heavily edit the articles so it wasn't worth it to me...

Normally I would side on the those that say it's overpriced.

This time, I'd say it's underpriced. Just my gut feeling, and
that algo remains a secret. But many of you should have
an inkling that's maybe close to mine, but perhaps a tad
overpriced, like Mike A. hints at. Just wondering if Mike A.
has any gut feeling on this one.

It seems to have a following which means its more than just the expired domain. However in this case with the previous owner letting her following on social networks know her displeasure the following would no doubt evaporate. Frankly if she knows her link profile she can contact the top referring links to change them too. so $900? Not on your life. I would not even go $500 and now with it being highlighted on a forum - I would not go near it at all.

Does the virtual assistant come with the $10 domain. No? Then were not talking about $10 anymore and we are probably talking more than $900 at this point for what? A bunch of unnatural crappy link building? So thanks for this worthless piece of advice.

what does it tell you that the original owner of the domain wasn't even trying to sell the domain in the first place and was panicking that she almost lost it?

Good for her. I was going to tweet her but had some family issues . I can understand where she is coming from if she doesn't understand that most domain owners don't really want the domains anymore. Plus really its Godaddy thats to blame if anyone. They put the domain up for auction and their format is designed to drive up the bids
