Hi, im quite new to the world of seo and would like a bit of help with noindex tags.

I am aiming at amazon affiliate sites. I have shopperpress theme so can import product descriptions. I was wanting to know if say I have 20 unique articles/pages which are all doindex, would it hurt rankings if I have say 30 imported product pages which are noindex, obviously these will have duplicate content from amazon.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Jason

Why do you want to import content from Amazon?

Amazon frowns upon it. They will ban you sooner or later.

Google frowns upon it. They will penalize/deindex you sooner or later.

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

I don't see it as a problem (other than how lazy and pathetic it sounds), but why not write all unique content for the site? Those 30 pages of duplicate content aren't going to do you any good inside or outside Google's index.

Google will most likely bury your scraped Amazon pages in the SERPs (eventually).

Thank you both, it often seems like basic questions from newbies get replies like pathetic and lazy, not very constructive and i am sure everyone is looking for the quickest way to do things.

Google has mentioned scraped ecommerce sites, they didn't specifically say Amazon, but it's kind of obvious considering Amazon has an affiliate network & they're the largest ecommerce site on the net.

An option is also to add the pages in dissallow robot text file, than you are sure the pages will be not spidered. But is they are spidered, you can block them in robot file and after some time delete links in webmaster tools so that the links will 100% go out of google.

As you are new to IM so there is one thing which you should note...

Only fresh content works today if you are going to take benefit from SEO.. if you are thinking of posting same product description from Amazon which doesn't work now.
