debtsolutionsusa.com ranks for the number 5 spot for the term debt solutions. It has only 53 backlinks to the entire site none hardly even targeting that keyword. It doesnt have to much content but yet google is ranking them the number 5 spot for a term that gets 150,000 searchs a month and has a PR of 0. I am just curious to what people think about how they are doing this? Any opinion would be great.

Thanks,
Jason

from what I see it is simply keywords in the domain name.

True but I own a domain name that has the term as well and I have been working it for awhile now. The only thing they have on me is the age of the domain. They popped out of no where and have been sitting at number 5 for awhile now. If you compare them to the other top ten who also have it in the domain name they have nothing in common with the rest of them with backlinks to amount of content to seo etc. Just strange how they are holding a top spot with hardly any seo done.

It's good ole fashion onpage SEO.

      An accompination of several factors.
      1. seo file structure using keyword(s) and siloed
      2. optimized images
      3. clean css
      4. tableless (although still not required)
      5. proper H1, H2, H3
      6. balanced keyword density
      7. maintained relavency between the title, description, keyword and heading tags

Nice piece of work. That'll do it every time.

Yes I understand having the keyword in the domain is key. I have the keyword in my domain as well just trying to figure how they jumped to number 5 spot with little seo.

This site: Dedicated Servers | Managed Dedicated Server Hosting

Is always in the top 10 for the search 'card tricks'.

Thanks for the info google, I'm looking for card tricks not web hosting.

Ah I am guess its just a screw up then as seeing with card tricks they should not even be listed or indexed for the keyword. I guess it just pisses you off when you were on page one then suddenly start dropping and then another site comes in and takes spot 5 out of no where and holds it for a few weeks and going.

It has a lot of keyword stuffing so maybe it is not as bad as google says.

The web page has 67 keywords in its metadata. And every page has that list.

Not sure if this helps but that may be whats doing it. I will try it on a site and see what happens.

Ok I will look into that. Thanks for the input its just the only niche I am having a hard time with. I have a few sites targeting the same keywords hoping I can get one to rank.

Looks like you did if the site in your sig is the one you are trying to topple Debt Solutions USA with I like your meta keywords Now the same as theirs.

I'd say it's the domain name, the age of the domain.

Also it seems no one has picked up on the fact that they are using ssl. http(S) I wonder if somehow in the financial niche being secure gives you bonus points. - and look at all the warm blankets at the bottom of the page, Better business bureau, etc.

The other thing, your site is a blog about debt, the Debt solutions usa looks like a real business. They have phone, fax, office hours etc. You on the other hand don't want anyone to contact you, but rather hope they mouse over and click the adsense block under subscribe to the newsletter. You can't hope to beat them with the site as it is.

The key is usually in the backlinks. They don't have a lot of backlinks but the few that they do have all have PR. Two of them are from a PR6 site.
