This is really awesome! You can get a search engine friendly backlink with your desired anchor text from Google.com using Google Profiles! I love it! To setup your Google profiles account just go to www.google.com/profiles

You should really set it up. Not only is it good because it is another place people can learn about you, but the best part is that you can write in your bio about who you are and what you do and then you can simply highlight some text that is relevant in there and link to it. Further they ask for you to add links like links to your websites! I added links to my blogs, a squeeze page, and my Twitter account! Yes, I could choose the anchor text on those links as well!

It is truly awesome and absolutely free and it takes just 5 minutes to set it up!

Yes, I also checked and they are not using the nofollow links or any funny business with the linksh that I could see. It looked like a regular link that should give you some search engine boost as well!

I setup my profile page just a few minutes ago and just Twittered about it with a link to my profile page to get it indexed fast so I can start seeing the link benefits fast!

This is really cool and you can't beat a free backlink from a majorly high authority website! Let me know your thoughts on this!

  • Thanks, great tip indeed for webmasters.
  • The anchor text is the clickable part of a link. For the best results you want your anchor text to include your main keyword phrase in it. So as an example if you see a link that says Click Here and it is hyperlinked in blue the Click Here would be the anchor text. You want the anchor text to include your keyword phrase. A good example is the smaller links in my signature (I am not encouraging you to click on them...this is just an example). The main keyword phrase I am trying to rank for on the first link is make money online so my anchor text is make money online.

You want to try to use your main keyword phrase or a secondary keyword phrase when linking to your pages. Basically what it does is tells the search engine spiders what to expect on that page, and it helps give you a boost of that link.

A regular link like one with just the link and no text is not as strong as an actual anchor text link. Hope this helps!
  • this is not so new. But thanks for reminding me again

  • I just checked the links and I didn't find any evidence that they were made nofollow. I viewed the source and even did a find on the page for nofollow and couldn't find anything reference nofollow. Now I will say there was something funny for the icons that was showing up and I would have to research that to see if it hurt the link or anything, but I don't see why it would. Here is the code sample.

    <li><img alt="" src="/s2/favicons?domain=www.mydomain.com">
    <div class="link"><a href="http://www.mydomain.com">My Anchor Text</a></div></li>

I don't see anything that would cause this to be a nofollow link. Does anyone else have any input on this?
