Hey all,

i've been trying to comment on some .edu blogs, they all have a dofollow attribute, used firefox add on,

what i do is i read the article and i leave a good lengthy comment, i also include my website link, but when i leave the comment

after looking back at the same blog my comment is not there,

do the blog owners have to accept it or something , i want to start doing more blog comments on high pr sites, can anyone explain how it works?

Well, I would expect you'll have the best luck with newer articles that were just published. Also, some bloggers may choose not to accept some comments that contain links just because there are too many people trying to do it, while others will be less picky.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

if i comment on a blog, i put my keyword in the username space, and my website link in the author space, would this count as a backlink?

        Hi Ant,

They will "count" but as to how much page rank they pass on, it's not really anything to shout about - especially if they are "nofollow". Yes clean links will be better but naturally your comment will be under more scrutiny by the blog owner (and who can blame them?)

If you're determined to put your keyword as your name I find it more useful to have my name like this: "Keyword Phrase - My Name" or "My Name - Keyword Phrase" so it's not too obvious.

What actually do you type into google?
Assuming you are in the Acne niche,
how will you go about searching for
high PR .edu blogs in that same niche?

    Thanks for help,

Your url may have been banned by Akismet and marked as spam. So not matter how many times you post the link in a comment, it will never appear. Test with a comment and don't include any links to see if the comment is approved.

To find edu blogs that allow comments, use the following command in Google:

        Code:
site:.edu inurl:blog "post a comment" -"comments closed" -"you must be logged in" "niche"
...where "niche" is the niche you are looking for.

Most bloggers today ignore comments posted by anchor texts (including myself)... That's why blog comments are not effective the way it was before.

Some blogs doesn't have comment moderation. In this case your comment is directly published.
Others have comment moderation, but few of them display the preview of your comment on the same page. But upon reloading the page, your comment is no more visible. In these cases if the blog moderator accepts your comment, your comment will be published.
Usually suspicious comments with abusive language, irrelevant comment, too many links will not be published.

I abandoned that strategy some time ago. Was frustrating ... spending all that time find a site that was actually REALLY DoFollow and would get indexed - only to find the site mod just wanted to gobble up User Generated COntent for their Own pripose, and gave no love back.

Too much time wasted with that approach. Posted getting nuked or moved off to some nofollow section or later the blog / site owner switches the whole thing to rel | nofollow.

Gotta look for groups of sites that desire eyeballs on theor site and want UGC and are wiling to give up the doFollow love for it. It aint easy

They have to be accepted by the blog owner to show up... You should check for your comment a day after.

You're at the mercy of the blog owner! Annoying, but that's the risk you have to take with some of these high PR pages if blog commenting is your method.

Try and be relevant, and add something to the post you're commenting on - if you don't at least do that, you've got very little hope.

I find it sometimes takes up to a month for a comment to get approved. Make them and be patient. Also, look for unmoderated blogs, those are GOLD! And yes, they exist.

I have noticed that some modirated blogs can be picky but you never know!
Sometimes links appear that I forget I posted cause I figured that they were not approved and then outta the blue they are there!

Its a gamble but well worth it!
