Ensure your onpage SEO is good to go... That includes content, page titles, and ensure you are keeping the keyword density less than 2% for onpage.

A good place to start is check the sticky at the top of the forum and there are a lot of good posts on here that relate to your same question.. But for a newcomer search for blogs related to your niche and start interacting with people via comments... Dont use it for SEO so include your name not the keywords your targeting. Relevant comments can help promote your site and sometimes it helps with SEO.

You should also think about doing some light social bookmarking to a few sites... Once you start to learn more you can move onto other areas of linking. Everyone has their own preferences... some buy them, some use tools and some do them manually and others rely on their good content.

So I read a few things, so just basically write up a few comments that link to my site using a few key words?

search for becker, and see what that cat does to get rankings. Yeah you need to start with keyword research, then use in title, h1, description, body etc. SEO will work for itself.

The he uses pr3, pr4 websites that he buys on different ip's, and then links back to those site he just created. Or posts on a blog he just created.

He gets ranked pretty quick. So becker emphasizes the power or backlinking from high pr websites in getting good rankings.

You can search for these sites using a SEO browser plugin. SEO Quake and SEO Toolbar for Firefox are good options. They provide information on the site's authority links, page rank, backlinks, and etc.

You can conduct your Google search when looking for websites to put your backlinks to and then these plugins will automatically provide information about these sites- which makes it easier for you to choose which sites are good to put backlinks.
