Hello Warriors,

I have a blog, www.mtgostrat.com, that I and 3 other guys started in feb. We have about 7-10 new articles a week and we use all the SEO plug-ins we can for wordpress. We can't use google adsense because I got a ban for clicks (even though I wasn't running ads).

Last month June 1-30 are stats were as followed and we have been seeing a 27% increase of visitors month over month (average)

Visits 19,883
Unique Visitors 11,070
Pageviews 42,582
Pages / Visit 2.14
Avg. Visit Duration 00:02:44
Bounce Rate 51.97%
% New Visits 50.04%

First off how do you think we are doing?

Secondly, where should I go looking for a way to monetize the site?

Thanks for all the help!
-Will

its a trading card game. its fairly popular having close to a million players world wide. we focus on the online side since I believe that a large portion of the players will be switching over to the online client soon. articles apply to both the online and paper version of the game so we're covered there.

I got most of the traffic and user base from a few different sources

    Reddit.com
2x Twitter Accounts (560 combined followers, they are both fairly new)
    4x MTG Forums
    Twitch TV streaming account
    Youtube Channel (404 subscribers)
and word of mouth through the online client

Google accounted for 56% of visits last month, follow by direct, youtube, reddit, and random sites.

Oh now I understand, my son loves Yu-Gi-Oh (the heart of the cards) and all that lol. My hats off to you sir, getting that type of traffic in that amount of time is not easy. I wish I had a answer to your question, I would say Gamefly, but those type of games are much different than the ones you have on your site, that crowd may be totally different than the Xbox/Ps crowds.

Adsense really would have been perfect but as Paul said search around for some CPA offers.

oh nice, good idea with the gamefly. I read a case study that wizards of the coast (makers of magic) said that 85% of the base players are heavily into console and computer based video games.

how would I go about having gamefly advertise with us?

You have the traffic that most offline comic book stores want. I'm sure most comic book stores sell The Gathering cards.

Get on Google Maps & search the US for comic book, that's a lot of possibilities.

    Sell advertising space...

What a great example of finding your personal niche and monetizing it. That's some super stats fellas. Great work.

My first site was built on weebly, and got 5k UV a day as it was based on a popular MMOG with over 300k active players. I had it loaded with free guides and cheats.

Good luck, and keep doing whatever it is your doing.

If it were me, I would take advantage of what you're building, a community.

I would scrap the web design, and start fresh. Incorporate forums into the actual domain name, and get your fans running the site for you. Once you build a forum, you build a community, which builds a business. Make the forums the focal point of your site - advertise it across the whole site.

From there, rather than focusing on monetizing the blog, monetize the forums. Use Skimlinks, sell advertiser space on the forums, create a "premium" membership.. etcetc

Just got back from a #BrightonSEO. I was given room 404 in the hotel I stayed at. Couldn’t find it anywhere!

That is probably a tough site to monetize! I hate to drop a shameless plug after minimal participation in this forum, but our app recommendation program would be perfect for you!!

With our publisher program, you get paid for recommending related apps to your visitors. We have lots of different gaming apps that complement your website perfectly. When one of your readers installs an app on their device, you will receive a commission. Very similar to how an affiliate program works.

You should totally check it out at youAPPi.com

I would create a forum and once you have the community up an running (an art in itself) you should offer monthly premium memberships or one off membership fees. Make sure you give them someting valuable in return.

I would also suggest promoting amazon products. Like card packs or rare cards etc on the main site
