Here are a few tips you can use to optimize your website for Search Engines while increasing your direct traffic efforts.

Check your Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts and make sure your website is properly linked in all possible areas.

Facebook:
On your Pages Description, and Website address section.
Make sure you have a few good posts that include a link as well.
You can also explore the "Notes" tab, you can add links there as well.

Twitter:
Again, in your pages description and website section.
Make sure you also have a few good posts that have your link in it.

YouTube:
Make a video or two in Windows Movie Maker with related images and text, maybe add some music. Upload them to your YouTube account, and add your keywords in the Title, Description, and place a link in the description as well.

Most of us have these 3 accounts, but some don't spend the time needed keeping them up to date. I challenge you to "refresh" your accounts and make sure you are utilizing every SEO aspect of each of these platforms, YouTube especially.

For me, they are more like a traffic sources.
No specific SEO help from those links at all. They are ALL no-follow as well.

      nofollow links work!

yesterday i was at position 9 for a high volume 3 word key-phrase, i placed 2 links both no-follow in a 180 word blog entry. the blog has pr0 and does not place well in the serps for any keywords whatsoever.

today i am position 5 for the same key-phrase.

knowing my luck it's all down to google's current update and will most likely disappear from the serps all together by friday. only time will tell

SERPs are moving always. Your link is probably not even indexed, yet you take claims that nofollow helps you to rank from 9 to 5 on a PR0 blog.

Ah nevermind, if that's what you believe then get even more nofollow links and soon you are top 1 for all the keywords.

This is good advice. Pretty much anyone can setup the key social media profiles (FB, Twitter, LinkedIn) and get started driving traffic straight away. It doesn't take a lot of investment i.e these services are free, quick and easy to setup.

It's an attempt to get more webmasters focused on their Social Media accounts. Rank the Social Media accounts and your linked website will follow. Thanks for all your responses guys!

These are some better solutions but i believe on site contents are perfect for the purpose.

I agree with Online Only. These are excellent traffic sources (I make most of my money from video/YT marketing) but offer very little SEO value.
