hi there, long story short, ive made a big mistake and outsourced my SEO to, lets say "idiots" for the time being, and they have managed to push my ranks DOWN consistantly over the last 6 months. promising me that this is just the updates messing the ranks around a little and they will settle shortly. ive had that excuse for some time now.

im so sick of dealing with them, im not even going to bother arguing it out any more.

so basically, is there a way to, not necessarily reverse, but cancel out the poor links built?

if i was to start building links correctly and properly, would the site start to climb again? or have these mystery links f*cked my ranks up for good?

please dont be pessimistic, dont tell me if theres no hope, i just want some good honest advise on how to get my ranks back up. without the BS.

thanks in advance!

If your site got penalized the best thing you can do is to move on a new domain.

    thank you for your reply,

would correct link building eventually cancel out the bad SEO tactics? its not spammy link building, just didnt go down well with google, for instance alot of my keywords went from page 2 to 4. and some days they dont rank atall. others they come up and its fluctuating alot.. i know once i let them settle, they will be worse than before i outsourced. but will using my original tactics again counteract the recent link building? changing the domain name is out of the question for various reasons. thanks again.

You're dead. There is no hope. Get a new domain and get on with your life. Chasing rankings for a dead site is less productive than doing things the right way on a new domain.

As performanceMan said sadly there's no much to do. Been there few times, wasted a full year trying to fix a big brand domain and experimenting with one of mine domains, waste of time & money. If you are in a low-mid competition niche you can get back your rankings even in 2 months, or you can waste time and money trying to fix something that will hardly ever come back.

How many links did they build? If the number were low then I would consider sticking with this domain, building good links, and seeing where it goes. However, if they built a ton of spammy links I would agree, time to pick a new domain and move one....

    Do some testing.

Pick an easy to rank same niche keyword, try & rank an internal page for that new same niche keyword with quality external links. If all is good with the domain, you'll rank an easy keyword with only a few quality external links.

If you can't rank an easy keyword, you'll never rank a tougher competition keyword.

At least do the testing, otherwise your dumping a domain that might be ok.

Assumes you have a domain you care about.
