I got blessed and found a keyword that hasn't been purchased as a domain that gets 8,000 views a month. Does this mean that if someone searches for apples to oranges and my domain is applestooranges.com that my site will pop up near the top of page one?

It's possible, we don't know what the keyword is, so we can't give you a definite answer without knowing the competition.

Only one way to find out, set up the domain, and see where it gets indexed.

It could mean that. If you put up one line on the webpage I doubt it though. Put some good content on it and you will do okay. It should rank fairly fast.

I used to sell websites and guaranteed number one to three listing, but I had a rule the domain name had to be category specific and local specific. so joesplumbingwisetx.com would work for my guarantee. Just a hint.

It depends on how you build it out. If you put a site on there and write good, quality, unique content (Maybe a new post everyday? If you use Wordpress you can write 10 articles and schedule them to come out once per day).

If your content is about the "apples and oranges", you should rank after a little while. I think it takes a little longer with a brand new registered name, but you built something quality it should work.

Whether you got blessed or not is still a question.

Yes, you feel lucky that you got that domain. I completely understand.

    Now, here is another thing:

The internet is not exactly knew. Has been around for some time. Many people try to register domain names.

If you were able to register that domain it could mean that there is no value to it. Why should it be available if real people were searching for that term. 8,000 people every month is a lot. 8,000 times 12 = 96,000 in one year. That not one of those 96,000 people has had some kind of business sense is very unlikely.

So, maybe you were lucky. Maybe not so much.

Isn't the actual site you set up on a domain more important than the value of the domain when you buy it? At least in the long run..

I saw people spending thousands of dollars on a domain but when you reach their websites they aren't all that good and you're just tempted to hit the back button cause you were expecting something more useful or professional.
