  • I'm seeing this as well. Not good at all.
  • I am seeing the same issue. I noticed a drop off in leads from slideshare so I went in to investigate and the links in my documents are not clickable anymore. I'm curious to see if this is a restriction for certain accounts and not others. Can anyone else confirm if their links are working?

    • Yes slideshare links are no longer anchor text
  • It's good. Hopefully less Slideshare rubbish spam cluttering page 1 on Google now.

    • That's good, but there will be a lot of legitimate documents on slideshare that will not have clickable links in them anymore. That seems like a big downer to me.
    • If this is not resolved within a week they no longer will have my MANY presentations occupying page one across different niches. I will also, no longer help them to become an authority site. I didn't drive traffic to them for fun.

Hmm... I think I warned people about slideshare in the past.

Tip: If something is popular on this forum, go the other way because it won't take long before the masses drive it into the dirt.

    EZA anyone?
  • Yes! I agree with you. I have many good software testing articles (original content) uploaded over there. It was giving some traffic back to my actual site. Now if that does not happen then what is the use of inverting the time and money on that site. If it does not get resolved in a week then I will just close that account.

    Thanks

  • yes this issue appearing at my side as well.
  • yes it is not good specially for Google rankings..
  • Clickable links in Slideshare do work, but they do not work on the first 3 pages of a document. So if you create just a single or 3 pages document and put in a link in there, then it will not work. Links become clickable when they are inserted beginning on page 4 of a document. So for now it is better to upload a document that has a minimum of 4 pages so that on the fourth page you can put a link in it and onwards to the other remaining pages following the page 4!

    • Would it be acceptable to make the first three pages as following:
      1. Book or report illustration
      2. copyright info
      3. Table of contents
That would solve the issue of needing to put links in the first three pages.

Then the main content could be on subsequent pages.
    • Confirmed and the links are working fine on page 4/5 and so on..

I just re-uploaded all of pdf documents with font size of 22+ on shorter docs.
    • Thanks so much for this information - Awesome share

  • I too noticed that links become clickable on page 4. I submitted a support request inquiring as to whether this is a new policy of slideshare. The support response said it was not. Perhaps, support isn't aware of the issue. I don't think it is a site wide coincidence.
  • Welcome ALL to the way this game works. Always adapting. Next!
  • i think Slideshare took this step to improve its bounce-rate.
  • This is unreal.

    • They also banned my slideshare account today and I only had one slide in that account... probably because of the anchor text links... because I'm sure that I wasn't doing anything against copyright infringement...
But they didn't said anything why they banned my account.
They simply deleted my account, anyone with this problem too?
  • Thank you for ruining the fun, spammers.
  • Docstoc is also unclickable links

    • Looks like tiered linking is getting its butt kicked this week.
  • really? used to use slideshare for a while
  • It's actually quite interesting - I guess all the automated pyramids, wheels etc no longer work and more markets will open up for newcomers? There is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

Or have I got it wrong?

    • Scribd.com is still showing links on all pages of PPTs and PDFs, plus you can charge people to download reports.

  • oh..I just checked slideshare and really feel bad at seeing the links that are not clickable..
  • Guys, while we're on the subject,

What is it that you put out to SlideShare? Just presentations, or do eBooks go well in there too?
    • [1] reply
    • Even ebooks do go there as well
