Pages get indexed...then deindexed. Why?

So I have a new site, less than a week old. The site has about 80 internal pages.

However only 40 pages are indexed in google right now which I'm cool with since I know it's a new site.

But recently when ever I type in site:"mysite.com" it sometimes shows 40 index pages and sometimes it only show 39 indexed pages or less.

Why did some of my already indexed pages get deindexed? Can someone explain this please?

I've had this happen to me to with new pages, the pages usually appear again in a few days. You could probably use the Google URL form and resubmit the URL's if you don't want to wait.

Maybe a few of your pages are ending up in Supplemental SERPs as duplicate pages of your own Pages/Post.

Go to the very end of the site: search results & scroll to the bottom do, you see something like this?
In order to show you the most relevant results, we have omitted some entries very similar to the 55 already displayed.
If you like, you can repeat the search with the omitted results included.
Either that (above) or your adding/removing the www. from the site: search string, sometimes that can show different search results while doing a site: search.

    Example:
    • site:domain.com
    • site:www.domain.com

Don't mess around & try to resubmit pages/URLs, that's completely unnecessary.

Its normal the indexing by google changes very frequently. I also face this situation.
Keep updating your site and also get some backlinks on regular basis everything will be fine.

Sometimes you have to allow a full month for google to index everything properly....

No, there are no duplicates. Just random posts are at some point, indexed and a few hours later it will be deindexed.

    Really weird...

I have had this happening to me as well as having my backlinks from WMT disappear. This has happened to new sites and in both instances results went back to normal after a week and doing nothing (I believe the WMT issue was a Google bug).
