Getting Credited For Web2.0 Backlinks

Hi All,

I don't seem to get credited for web2.0 backlinks and I was wondering why? They don't show up in ahrefs or any other backlink checker, so I am assuming they are not passing juice to my site. They are indexed in the traditional sense i.e. they show up in the google index but how can I get them to show up in backlink checkers? Any ideas?

Thanks,
Seamy

Thankfully Google does not hold a lifetime subscription to Majestciseo and Ahrefs for the function of counting your backlinks.
All of these backlink checkers, only process the web in very, very, very, small snippets. Just because they don't show up in Ahref's. Does not mean that Google does not know they exist.

seamy82, Search Metrics just published the results of their latest SEO ranking factors popularity study - SEO Ranking Factors - Rank Correlation 2013 for Google USA 2013
You might want to have a look to see if the kind of links you're relying on have much of an impact.

By the way, our new social tool, BuzzBundle, shows Web 2.0 links to a site, as it searches for ULR mentions in social media in particular.

If a backlink shows up in the google search index does that mean it is indexed (it gives power to my search engine ranking) or our their different levels of indexing? All my web2.0s, wiki, and article backlinks show up in the index but only some show up in backlink checkers. All my links from my private blog network show up in backlink checkers. What is this all about?

A backlink may be indexed by Google, but that doesn't automatically mean it's helping you rank higher. It may be quite on the contrary.

Each backlink checker is different and has its own scope of sites that is crawls. So, if a backlink tool hasn't found certain backlinks, it doesn't mean they don't exist.

Why would they not show up, did you block their bots and the links still show up?

I'm just wondering why backlinks from my private blog networks show up in backlink checkers easilly, yet links from press releases, web2.0s and article don't. Blog comments show up also.

No backlink service has anywhere near the resources of Google to crawl and index the internet. Higher PR sites, like those typically found in a private network, are going to get crawled more often by both backlink checkers and Google. PR n/a pages on Web 2.0 sites are going to take far longer to get picked up by most backlink checkers.

Either way though, really makes zero difference if a backlink service finds a link or not. To be honest, I would actually prefer if most of my links are NOT found by them.

So what your saying is if Google has indexed the page the link is on, that should be enough?

If I can see a cache of the webpage, I feel pretty confident Google is well aware of the link. Whether or not they are counting it for anything... that's another debate.

It's normal, the most common reason is that they are not yed indexed.. Try to build a few tier2 backlinks and start working on them and you will see an improvement in Google... And if this works, you don't need to check if they show up... Because you could be #1 for a good keyword, but only A FEW backlinks to be visible via those tools!

If a page isn't indexed that doesn't mean it isn't getting spidered. Meaning your juice doesn't just stop at an unindexed page. Long story short, even if it's not indexed doesn't mean it isn't found. Longer story even shorter, don't worry about it.. keep building.

If you can see the link from a cached google page, then that is the most certainty you can get that it is indexed. Whether it is valuable or not is a totally different question.
