Is Google Now Scrutinizing YouTube Video SEO?

I hired some people on fiverr.com who had high ratings to upload a youtube video several times on Traffic Geyser.

But the Vimeo and Daily Motion videos are on the second page of Google for the same key words, title and description that was used for the Youtube video and they were not uploaded to Traffic Geyser.

The Youtube video does not appear anywhere and I went back several or more pages in Google looking for it?

I wonder if Panda and Penguin type stuff (and I mean similar and not exact) is now being applied to Youtube when I was told that Youtube is treated differently than website SEO???

Perhaps I am misunderstanding what Traffic Geyser does? I used it without investigating enough exactly what it does, but I got the tip to use it from a guru that I respect and does well on the internet earning enough each month.........

What is your feedback?

I think Video SEO related to YouTube is definitely treated different then regular SEO. Although I have found some of my videos loosing page one rankings but I think its because my competitors are doing more than me.

You will have to do a lot more than just Traffic Geyser to get your video to rank. Try using a service like Vagex and Pingler.

From what I understand, "YouTube SEO" involves things like viewer retention. For instance, a video that gets watched all the way through gets priority in ranking over videos that don't. So make sure your videos are awesome and people enjoy watching them.

With all the rubbish on YouTube these days, I am surprised that the Pengiun algorithm updates did not result in YouTube being dropped from the Google rankings

Seriously, a big shake-out of rubbish from YouTube has got to happen sometime soon, I think - a kind of Penguin for video.

Define rubbish? I think that the "Charlie bit my finger" video is rubbish but that didn't stop it from going viral and getting millions of views.

My point is that being liked/disliked is subjective. Unless Google release a specific criteria of videos they would like to see - I can't see anything changing (criteria on everything except the usual like sexist, racist, homophobic etc.)

I don't disagree with you at all. But the essence of Penguin is that Google has a view on what 'rubbish' is, and my point is that view might well be extended to other properties it owns, such as YouTube.

Well youtube is still treated like a baby by google so its SEO are not effected although there are some new factors which plays a larger role in video SEO.

In older days you could seo a video just like everything else but now the social factor (visitors, retention, likes, shares) plays a larger role in the algorithm but I think it is the same now with websites too.

I think the most basic principle remains the same. Be authentic, be human, care about your viewers, provide good information and you don't have to rely that much on link building or tricks.

As with on-page content, keep the video content fresh and interesting and it will eventually rank higher! (based on viewer stats etc)

I don't know. What I can tell you is I have noticed the same thing. Over the last few months it seems that A LOT of daily motion videos have been taking the spots of youtube videos.

Maybe google was showing YT preference and other video uploading sites got pissed off. Maybe google is trying to be more fair.

I honestly have no idea. But I have definitely seen a lot more daily motion videos lately.

This relates to a point I made in another thread. If Google is willing to "dilute" it's YT search results then will that come at the expense of more Slideshare presentations or Daily Motion vids in the SERPs? It's a bit of a Pandora's Box situation.

I would be very surprised if they did because YT is a massive revenue source.

I doubt YouTube needs search for traffic. I think everyone in the world knows by now you can go directly to YouTube.com and search for a video from there. YT videos really don't need to be in search, especially crap ones.

I have noticed a big change over the last two weeks. I am trying to rank a video for a local keyword that gets only 210 searches per month and has only 89,000 competing pages. I used to be able to rank this on page one within a week. It has been 3 weeks and I can't get it past page 3. Something is definitely up with the Youtube / Google algorithim.
