Struggling to leap frog weaker websites

Could someone take a quick look at my website for the keyword 'Speed Dating Richmond' in www.google.co.uk and tell me what I need to do in order to rank #1, i'm currently in third position and can't quite understand why..

The same could be said for the keywords 'Speed dating Putney', the number #1 ranked site doesn't even have events in Putney!

Cheers, Rob.

I'd say you have a good chance of climbing to #1. The #1 guy is a top-level domain which has more weight than just a page. But he's only a PR1 and his page doesn't have as much content as you.

So just keep building links slowly. Diverse your anchor text, don't overuse the exact match and diversify your link TYPES. Maybe look into purchasing an expired high PR domain if you want some quick results. Good luck!

Also looks like you used your keyword quite a few times in your article. Might be overkill.

After you hit the No1 spot, your next problem is going to be a real shock to your system.
The only person searching using those keywords in the world is probably you checking your SERPs. You'll have to be a good customer to yourself.

    Hi Kevin,

I'm aware the volume is low, but it's highly targeted. If 58 people are specifcally looking for Speed Dating in Richmond then if i'm #1 chances are i'm taking at least 20 of those customers.

I have a lot of keywords in similar positions. I also have the money keywords like 'Speed Dating London' but now i'm on Google Maps i'm stuck in the box and can't hit above ranking #3.

Yeah, I see what your trying to say. But you will find that 57 of those searches, are people like yourself checking keywords, or just Tyre kickers.

If I saw a volume of lets say.
1000 per month. I would discount half of it instantly, as random untargeted garbage.
500 per month. Then I'd divide that by 4. Because even on a good day, you will be doing well to pick up 25% of the search traffic in first spot. A lot less if you have paid search above you.
125 per month. On a good site with a nice sales funnel. I'd be doing well to get 5-10% conversions. Let's say 10% for the sale of keeping it simple.

12.5 conversions a month. Now play those figure against your 58 searches.

      Good luck with it anyway.

      Kevin
