Why the days of "outsourcing SEO" are numbered and you might want to get an offline job

Another day another unsolicited PM from someone that wants to know an easy and cheap way to rank and make money. This time the requests indicates that he doesn't even want to watch videos if it comes down to learning.

He just wants a cheap "outsourcer" (why the poor soul PMs me of all people I have no idea). As a matter of fact the cheap part is redundant. 9 times out of 10 what most mean by outsourcer is someone who works dog cheap. Its kind of like "VA"

My entire answer to him was and I quote

I'd suggest you get a job offline.

Why is this answer actually sound? Heres why. The goal of Google is NOT to eliminate all spam, all link buying or even all self backlinking. Thats a fallacy. Google knows its unlikely. Thats like Police saying they will end all drugs in the US.

Its not happening. The goal though is to make life the hardest they can for people doing all those things. Either make it take a lot of work by doing away with the cheapest easiest kind of links (which they are getting very successful with) or make it much more expensive to operate. If they can weed out 75% of the marketers then its mission accomplished.

99% of offers you will see out there from "outsourcers" at sub $100 a month are for what most people here already know are crappy links. There are a few people here and there trying to make up cheap prices with volume but they do it only for awhile until they find out they can't.

Cheap "Outsourcing" is dying. Tiered link building is the one and only use of software products like SEnukeX, Magic Submitter and GSA. Once Google slams that door shut the outsourcing market is dead at those low prices.

If you are too lazy to learn any other kind of SEO and want everything to be cheap - save yourself the time

and go get an offline job to make extra money.

At least you didn't get a PM saying they follow your forum post, how do I build SAPE links?

They do fly-overs on my House. My house is blacked out on Google Maps. I have been kidnapped and raped by Nerds several times, in an attempt to extract my DNA.

I don't remember exactly who the forum name was, I deleted the PM because If they had followed my forum comments like they said, they would already know I don't deal with SAPE links.

I don't mind helping people out with PMs, but I think some of the PMs are blasting anyone that's active on the forums & waiting for someone to bite.

The sooner peeps realize IM is a real business the sooner they achieve success.

Of course, that means 90% of WSOs going out of business too...

I don't understand your logic. Is it lazy that instead of learning how to service a car myself, i took it to a garage? Personally, i would rather take my car to a garage, and pay for their service, then having to spend hours learning how to do the job myself.

It's not quite the same analogy. Learning how to fix cars is different from opening a garage when you don't know how to fix cars. That's the point Mike is trying to make.

People want to outsource a business which isn't going to happen. You still have to run it.

Excellent counter analogy Smodha. People have this incredible unrealistic idea that the hundreds of years of business being something you have to work at goes away simply because you put the words online in front of it.

I usually don't respond to requests like that all. I just delete the PM but this guy was just beyond lazy - Wanted it cheap, wanted to be assured of a good profit and specifically stated the didn't want to be bothered with learning anything.

Its really just a totally childish way of looking at making money.

You've been on a roll lately, Mike.

I personally LOVE it when Google rolls out an update or makes a major change. Each one makes it harder for amateurs and VAs to compete.

    Widen that moat...

      .
Here, here. I hope Google can find a way to totally cripple tiered link building. IF they do that a huge percentage of the "outsourcers" will be done and alot of the tool developers will go out with them. They can of course fool the newbs with their ranking examples of five word longtail phrases with 50 searches a month.

Google updates is the "natural selection" for Internet Marketers. Weed out the crap so only the strong can survive.

It's evolution on a digital level...
