How to check SERP anonymously?

Hello

I'm trying to catch up my keyword for the Google, but all the different tools are showing me different results.

For example:

google.com/ncr - Pos 3. (using incognito mode)
Traffic travis - pos 4.
Google SERPS Search Result Position Tool - pos 6.
Serp MOJO for android - pos 3.
HideMyAss - pos 6.

etc...

It's pretty disturbing, cause I would really like to know where does my site locate on google serp.

According to traffic, it seems that pos 6. seems the most realistic one.

Any other reliable serp checkers out there?

Cheers

I know many here frown down on the guys over at Moz, but the just had a useful tip on this. Rand suggested using:

    gooogle.co.uk/?q=keyword&gl=us&pws=0

    (1) the UK domain brings you out of the country. (2) your keywords, obviously needed. (3) the gl brings the search back into the US, but because you're coming to the US from across the pond, it's not geographically biased. (4) the last bit removes any personalization.

Hope this helps, I haven't tried it yet.

The truth is, all of those methods you are using to check your rankings are more or less correct. They are all connecting to different datacenters. They are located in different areas. Google is getting better and better at feeding users results they feel are more relevant to their location.

There really are no uniform rankings. You are normally going to get different results.

WhatsMySerp.com uses private proxies to check your google SERPs so it is anonymous and independent of you. But MikeFriedman is correct though, google can give different results depending on the datacenter it hits.

This can be a big factor if your site is for a local business and you want results based on location because you and your customers may be in Florida, but the proxy may be in Colorado, so having a keyword like 'dentist' will be extremely different.

The silliness is in thinking it matters. Nobody in the real world
searches that way. Google gives different results depending on
time, place, person, history, etc. If you turned all that off,
what on earth would the results matter?

Pure, unadulterated search results would serve no purpose.

          I don't know why that's disturbing.

If it mattered, people would still be using directories....not
          search engines.

If you were disappointed in your results today, lower your standards tomorrow.

Paul, I've come to respect your posts as I've read these forums. On this, however, I disagree. True, no one searches unadulterated SERPs, but a non-personalized SERP listing can provide a standard against which other results can be measured. It can help you see how exactly personalization, geography, history, etc. are affecting the listings.

Well, my keyword is pretty board not for specific countries/locations.

Just tried whatsmyserp.com and results were pretty interesting:

I put the region to Global (google.com) and hit the "refresh" button. It's constantly changing from nr2 to nr6 every time I refresh - pretty funny.

I checked out most of the location and my site seemed to be locating between 6 to 2 from different countries.

However, on google.com.au; I was on 10th spot. FML

Anyhow, thanks for all the contributors. I guess I'll have to bump my site even more to get better rankings on different locations

That variance is probably from which private proxy you get. The service we use has multiple locations in the U.S. and Europe, so you may have been jumping between them which could vary your results.
