Conversion and it's core attributes?

If I wanted to increase conversions for online retail in North America what metrics should I focus on in Google Adwords?

I know there are many factors when it comes to conversions (landing pages, ad copies, etc) but would increasing CTR (Click Through Rate) say from 3% to 6% have a direct impact on conversions? I can see how CTR would potentially increase Quality Score, therefore increasing Ad Ranking, and as a result be more visible to buyers. It all seem too broad to me. Is there a more direct, or at least a core set of metrics that I should focus on when focusing on conversions? Thanks in advance!

You wanna focus on increasing your income. Just because more people opt in doesn't always mean they'll buy more. It's easy to think a jump from 3% to 6% would double your sales volume, but if you 'tricked' people into signing up to get the boost, it's easy to see how you could hurt yourself and damage your reputation instead of increasing your sales.

Look for a better optin rate on your landing pages, better email open and click thourgh rates in your autoresponder, and most importantly... increased income!
