How to Rank my Keyword / Analyze Competition?

What are some good free or paid tools I can use for my website(s) for analyzing competition?

For example, I started using a paid plugin to help my blog get indexed faster and I targeted a keyword as well. What I need to know now is how I can look at my competition on page one so I can rank for that keyword. I used to have Market Samurai, but that was a while ago.

I do understand basic SEO, but I'm still stuck on some areas, mostly due to not knowing/having the right tools.

    Hubspot - though it's fairly expensive for startups or sole traders. Open Site Explorer from Moz is a good free tool - they have many more useful services for online marketers.

    Aherefs and majestic can show you the backlink profiles. Cognitive SEO is another one that I really like
