Using multiple keywords in domain name

I am creating a new website and in order to try to get good rankings on Google quickly i am thinking of putting a bunch of keywords into domain name so it will rank better on google.

The domain name i am thinking about will look like something below

buy-iphone-covers-cases-chargers-manuals-protectors.com

Does this strategy works? Does google penalize sites that use this strategy?

Thanks

  • It's too short. Try something like:

    buy-iphone-covers-cases-chargers-manuals-protectors-headphones-ipads-ipods-apple-facebook-likes-and-a-new-house.com

    • This is an SEO question, you'd get a better answer in that part of the forum.

And no, I wouldn't do what you want to do.

    • This belongs in the SEO section. Aside from that, using common sense doesn't that look really odd to your potential visitor? Your domain would be memorable, but for entirely the wrong reason.

You're seriously better off just making up a brandable domain name and ranking internal pages of your site for your keywords.
  • Imagine if facebook's domain was social-media-easy-access-talk-to-people.com. Now, rethink your strategy.
  • this is the wrong place to post s.e.o. questions.... but...

Sorry... but I would have to disagree with BamIPD... Who wants to type in a mile long address?... There's plenty of ways to help your site rank without keyword stuffing. Remember, Wordpress, and blogs get ranked higher in google because of their content. Panda, and Penguin are some minor setbacks, but all in all, you have many other ways to do seo. Manual submission to Web 2.0 properties, Social media marketing, YouTube(very powerful) , and plugin's for wordpress. Install All In One SEO, and Google XML sitemaps. Those are 2 very powerful plugins for wordpress. Also, write about someone that interests you. Don't write about things you don't know what your talking about. Write about your passion. Computers, coin collecting, just whatever makes you happy. Because then you can write about it all day, and not get bored! That's the secret to a blog. Write about what your passion is... Don't put so much emphasis on what your website is called. Focus on content! Content is king Just some friendly advice.

    Hope this helps,
    Cody

  • for keywords use anything that comes to mind ... anything ... for address anything simple .... keep in mind that people forget to use characters in the url (-)

    • I know that no one will remember this long address to type but the whole purpose of what i am thinking of doing is to get to #1 page on Google.

The actual concept i am thinking of doing is a membership site, so once person finds it on Google and registers he/she can then bookmark it, use browser's history or browser's URL suggestion feature to go back to it.

Also, the membership site i am thinking of doing will be an affiliate site (copy of existing site that someone else made) with membership fee revenue sharing so i have very little control over sites features, modules etc.
  • Obviously you are just spamming in the eyes of user and search engine. try instead use the most critical and main services of the website. example is iphoneaccessories.com or iphone-accessories.com. with this the url is more specific with your product.

    • Do you think Google etc will recognize this as spam and penalize the site?

  • Google has suggested that do everything for people who searches and want information, not for search engines. Your domain name is your site's and your business' identity. So make it short. Its a spam as well as its a high voltage shock for both people and search engines.
  • Yes, what it comes down to is what people think when they see your domain. Any long name like that is going to tell them not click on your site. It just comes off as unprofessional, etc. It wouldn't matter if you ranked number 1 for a bunch of keywords that way, because people would just click on the next results.

Just concentrate on your main keywords and make a short, simple looking url and you'll be on the right track.
