Just curious if it's possible to outrank big Authority sites for particular products like C-net, Amazon ect... ?

The way to do it is not try and compete with them for the
things they will never lose. Like a product name. What you
can outrank them for, is when real people ask real questions.
Like, what are the best books for a teenage boy...
hunting knives that fold away easy...(too lazy to list more)

That last example would be in lieu of hunting knives, which is
the example that large retail store sites will never lose, most
likely. But I always have felt that there are as many people searching
for a particular item in certain situations and uses, as there are who
just search for some mundane product name. And if you get those
people to your site, with a product and buy button, they're hooked.

I would never do hunting knives review crapola, or review of anything.

More to it, but not good for a forum reply.

Yeah, question keywords are a great way to go. Burton, there's a discount link on SEOSUnite for 'Keyword Researcher' that will help you develop those question keywords based on auto-suggest.

The link gets you $10 off, so it's $39 instead of $49.

I currently use Jaaxy right now. I usually search pretty broad to start with and try to narrow it down to the long tailed question style keywords with low comp, but it doesn't really provide a lot of ideas.

Does the one you're referring give you a pretty big list of question low comp style keywords (depending on the niche or topic of course)?

Well you would never outrank CNN.com for the keyword "CNN" but you can outrank it for something like "why are newscasters called talking heads."

It depends on how strong the particular page is (I guess we're talking about inner pages here). Does it have PR, how many backlinks it has, what kind of onpage optimisation it has, etc.

If it's not particularly strong, then yes, you have a chance.
