Do 301 redirects still work?

So it used to be that 301 redirects would send nearly all the "link juice" to your new site, but is that still the case? I have seen some people claiming different. Does anyone have proof of if it still works or not?

Also, lets say I buy 2 expired domains, but cannot afford to get some additional hosting to use them in a blog network. Can I put them on the same host as my main site and 301 redirect them without any google punishment?

Thanks

No replies? I thought 301 redirects would be a bigger part of SEO

  • Ben,
Redirects are diluted as much as a regular link. You can learn more about that here,

Google: 301 Redirects & Links Pass Equal Link Juice

As far as your domain question, I doubt that strategy would have any benefit for you if the other domains had no content on them. Even if they did I don’t see the benefit unless I’m missing something.

      Ben,
Yes, 301 redirects is still working because i have just use it to add www. on my new site. Someone argue that 301 would be an important part for SEO but i think that it is normal.
For your domain question: you can do it but it has not many advantages
