How much traffic will this get me

If I rank for a keyword which gets 6400 exact monthly searches and I get #1 on google I'm thinking it will get me about 50-60 visitors a day right?

6400 divide by 30 = 213 a day

then only about quater of the traffic I will get for being number 1 as some will go to #2 or #3..

is this about right on avg?

    You can't rely on google's keyword tool too much for accurate search numbers. I ranked number 2 for a term with 6000 searches and got 300 visits per month from it. All depends though.

    Don't put too much emphasis on main keywords, for they look unnatural in Google's eyes.

    The monthly search count, is it local or global?

    It has to be local, and i would suggest at least 4,000 local searches a month for it to be a decent niche.

    Generally, you will 1st rank in google gets 70% of the local searches for the keyword.

    You should also look into getting traffic by long tail keywords, secondary keywords, guest posts, forum posts, PPC, etc.

      yeah I normally only do paid traffic and I know this keyword converts into buyers for my website (review website) but I feel like I'm losing a lot of potential traffic because at the moment I'm not doing any backlinks because I never normally worry about seo.

      So when I check the google keyword tool it says it gets 6,400 for US so was just wondering if the traffic is worth my time to try optimise the site for google and get it ranked.

      I already get a tiny a bit of traffic from certain phrases but not a lot because it has 0 backlinks so doesnt rank for a lot.
