Images & layout considered duplicate content?

I have a client with a .co.nz domain. He wants to move into the Australian market and have a copy of the website hosted on a .com.au domain.

I understand this is not recommended due to duplicated content. But what about the images, the layout, etc.

Can we get away with using the same website and just swapping out text content and meta details (maybe image alt tags) but leaving the rest of the website unchanged?

Thanks

  • Grayman,
Really you can use the same content as well even though Google recommends that you don’t, they also mention that they understand if you can’t. As far as layout of the website and images, that kind of thing doesn’t really matter. For the images you could always rename the files if you are worried about it.
