Ive noticed that quite a few forums in my niche allow me to direct link to a piece of content on my site in a post, but require the post to contain the same text as on the site, I dont mind posting my content in its entirety as long as I can throw a link in there as well... however im concerned about having an issue with duplicate content. Is google going to care if a few of my articles have been posted on some forums?

No. Google won't care about the placement of your article in more than one place.

That isn't duplicate content, Rick: it's syndicated content. The differences between the two are briefly explained in this post and this little article.

There's no "penalty" for it, anyway, which I think is what you're asking?

Not in the slightest. Mine are posted in their entirety on large numbers of other websites. I'm an article marketer. So are countless others - syndicated content is everywhere.

(It's still possible, in any individual case, if the forum ranks well enough and your own site badly enough, for a syndicated copy to outrank you, though. That's often temporary, and the more initial indexation-rights you acquire for your own site by having all your content published and indexed there first, the less likely it is to happen.)

The thread probably belongs here, really: Adsense / PPC / SEO Discussion Forum
