Long Term Site 10+ Years, Abysmal Traffic

Some years ago, I did some backlink buying for my site. They were just Fiverr packages and some cheap, easy methods. This site has been around for a long time, I'm tempted just to abandon the site and start anew with a fresh domain, taking much better care how I SEO it.

I'm definitely low on SEO working knowledge, but I looked at the site in MajesticSEO and found it had almost 700 backlinks from mostly "junk" sites, and the anchor text was a lot of the same phrases.

Without taking a lot of time and expense, is this salvageable with some higher quality links (PR and relevance); or will it take too much for what it's worth?

700 links should be easy to erase/cleanup. Then your good to go.

Don't abandon it - long-term, established sites can be a fantastic way to "get the jump" on Google and get higher up the SERPS.
