Hi,

If you had a PR 2 blog and it got penalised for unnatural link building. Does it lose its PR and effectiveness to be used as a back link to another site?

Disregarding SERPS here.

Thanks

  • If you don't clean it up and disavow all the bad links, and submit a reconsideration request, it might just stay locked up and penalized, thus ruining it's reputation.

    • I'm just curious. I don't own this site im just saying for private network purposes if I used a seo to build links to it for keeping the PR only.

  • I like suggest you to remove all your badlinks ,
because it will gradually affect your page, And try to build your links from authorize sites, like .gov or .edu .
  • If you are able to remove the links then remove those links associated with the keywords which are mostly used.. or change the anchor text if possible.. and keep working continuously, it would really help you a lot.
  • Even though your site has been penalized for unnatural link building, you still have your PR in place and you can use this site as a backlink source.

    • Exactly what I needed.

      Thanks.
    • You are right..I had experienced it..
    • Yes I agree - the above is true but only I think if the website has been penalized and not delisted in which case rather than going through all the motions of trying to get rid of bad links etc. and submitting for reconsideration I would just dump it - get another domain and start again from there...
  • Yes WebMeUp is correct, this has happened to a site of mine.
  • What type of penalty? Were you banned from Google search or simply demoted in search engine listings for popular keywords being targeted?
