How Much To Bid On Keyword for Google Adwords?

How much is a good amount to bid on Google Adwords? If Google's Adword tool says their Estimated Avg CPC is $6.00 for a keyword and the Estimated Ad Position is 1-3, what would be a good amount to bid to get traffic? Are there any other factors to consider besides those two? Are there any other reliable tools? What's the rule of thumb for bidding based on their Estimated Avg CPC, should you do it over? Within a certain percentage?

    Ok there are many factors, and you really need to track. Some keywords are highly competitive, cost a lot, but if you make a profit, then sure, bid high. Some keywords are cheap but do not really convert. The thing is, you have to track the results, and keep tweaking your campaign till you get optimal profit. There is no general rule to 'what should I bid on a keyword', it depends on your keyword.

    1 important factor is the landing page. If it contains the keyword a couple of times, your clicks will get cheaper and cheaper

    I strongly suggest trying to avoid competitive keywords, but aim for long tail keywords that is cheap and affordable. You want to aim for long tail keywords that are funneled to be targeted to your product, to increase conversions, as well as it being cheap.
