Advertising with Gawker Media?

So I've been searching around looking for gaming related sites to advertise on. Sure I can go with Google Adwords or Facebook but Kotaku seems like it would be the best place to advertise my gaming related site. I looked them up briefly and found a site that sells ad space.

I'm sure I can go directly through Gawker media to advertise but it seems they charged $16 for 1000 impressions. Considering they get millions of hits every month is this a good price? I'd like to try them out as I'm a big fan of Kotaku and would love to see my ads on there, but not sure if $16 per 1000 impressions would end ramping up the cost quickly. Any advice? Anyone have experience dealing with them?

By the way I found this info from "buyads.com". Looks like a good site, but I'd have to research more. If anyone has input on that place I'd like to know as well. Thanks

$16 per 1000 impressions would ramp up costs very quickly.

you can also try buysellads.com and you can look for niche specific sites at a relatively much lower cost than gawker media (still depends on the site)

Thanks. Actually I was looking at a few other sites they have that were a bit cheaper so I'd probably start off with those. If I could set up a budget then I'd consider going with Gawker. They get millions of hits so I'd like to at least try them out for a short run.
